Ram 2500...and Possible Fifth Wheel Purchase

So I am about to pull the trigger on the following fifth wheel, and here are the specs:

KZ Sportsman 315BHK
UVW (Unloaded Vehicle Weight)*
7,830
Dry Hitch Weight*
1,420
Dry Axle Weight*
6,410
NCC (Net Carrying Capacity)
970
GVWR
8,800

This is my FIRST fifth/wheel trailer, and I believe I am well within specs. The Ram is a 2014 2500 6.4 4x4. It does have the ramboxes, but I am going with the sidewinder set-up. Want to make sure I am not missing anything.

The weight should be no problem for that truck. The CCC I would investigate. Maybe it as 4400 pound axles which would not be a concern for me given a fair amount of weight goes on the truck. But I'd make sure the frame isn't a limit because that will be very easy to add over 1000 pounds of stuff with empty tanks.

It is way too easy to add 1,200# to a fiver that size. Nice rig, that is a very low payload!

I wonder why it is so low. I did not even pay attention to that. For a first time RV/Fiver, will I be over this quickly with just regular cargo? Clothes, plates, tv's etc.? Thank you for all the replies. The wife and kids are very excited. If you can believe it this is a 14 model that is new and heavily discounted.

Here's one that weighs 8150lbs. With an 8800lb GVW you only have 650lbs for cargo. Add in the batteries and you're at 550lbs. I think I'd seriously look else where for something with more CCC.

The Ram's not the issue, it's the extremely low CCC of the KZ.

Towing with the 6.4 Hemi will not be an issue with this 5er. What stuck out for me on the numbers you posted was the lower than average NCC. Love the layout and the 2 year warranty is icing on the cake.

Sounds like a nice setup. You should be happy with the way it tows.

8800# GVWR 5th wheel is well within specs of a 2014 2500.

Sidewinder is a good set up.

Enjoy!
