ReadyBrake and Honda Fit

This always comes up and where the question should always be, as to whether or not it will hurt anything to have supplemental and break-away braking on the toad and the answer is an astounding, NO!

I looked at that and it does seem like a good solution, but if you install the break away cable you still must find a way through the firewall plus the cost is higher.

The RVi2 is a great solution for the Fit. Given the tight spaces under the hood, I opted for a nice, small brake-in-a box solution. Installation is fast and simple and it works.

I had a Roadmaster Brake master installed on my 2009 Fit, no problem. It has an air hose through the firewall. I believe 09 through 13 have the same drive train and engine layout. Good luck!

What I recall from looking was that you'd take out all the plastic air intake stuff, plus the battery, and then maybe you'd be able to proceed. Does that sound about right?

This was the reason for the question. I do have the 13 Fit and don't see how it could be installed w/o removing half of the items in the engine compartment. Per the Readybrake website they have not done a test fit on the Fit.

Man, it's real close quarters on a 13 Fit as far as getting that cable in there. I think it's been done. Have you called the company?

It all depends on how you look at it.
If you consider legality only, then no, in many states no supplemental braking is required by law for towed motor vehicles.
If you consider braking performance, then in many states if you can stop within 40 or 45 feet (depending on the state) from 20 MPH on a dry, clean, level, hard surface, you are good.
