RV Dealer reviews?

I'm in the process of buying a travel trailer and everyone advises me to pick my dealer nearly as carefully as the RV. How? Is there a forum or site where people discuss or rate rv dealers and service?

Not sure where in Texas you are, but I bought mine in Lubbock from Pharr Rv. I felt that the dealer was at least if not more important than the rv itself and haven't been disappointed with my decision.

๐Ÿ™‚ The dealer I go to is very small & has low overhead & they pass the savings along.... Low labor rates, deals on new units.
But when I go I do not act like a know it all, I do my homework, but they have set prices so no negotiating & have customers coming from hundreds of miles....

To look at the shop it looks like a dump but they do great work, the supplies are somewhat organized but not really...... The saying you can't judge a book by its cover applies here. The building is an old VW dealership from the 1970s nothing fancy.

The owner bought the last 17 units from a defunct RV manufacturer .....cash & is selling the of at a tremendous savings.

I have bought two campers from them & had plenty of service work there...... It is just the owner & 3 full time employees & probably do the volume of some large dealers... The two "sales people also do light maintenance as well.

Bottom line is they are less than 5 miles from home. If I need a part I will pay a little extra from them just to keep up with what is going on so they know me. They are a great bunch. :B

I don't think so. The purchasing experience is very personal and therefore very subjective.
Two people describing their PDI can tell you completely different things, for example
Couple # 1 "The salesman was very nice.He was very thorough and covered every aspect."

Couple #2 The salesman treated us like a couple of idiots,I mean who doesn't know how to light a stove, this jerk droned on and on for two hours!"
I guess research like you would any other merchant you a spending big bucks with. Check longevity, BBB customer service review sites.

One can do a search for the name of the RV place and limit it to sites like rv.net, irv, and other forums to find info. Usually you will get complaints, since happy customers don't tend to post good in general.

The funny thing is that the same dealer can have a top notch salesperson and one of a horror story... and both sitting next to each other in the showroom. For example, the same dealer with a salesperson who helped a friend of mine and his wife get a very good, usable class "C" for quite an excellent price, I ended up with a different salesperson who was definitely nowhere as good.

One site, that may have feedback from customers:
RV Service Reviews

Trying your best to feel out, how they work with customers after the sale, education (PDI), warranty wrok, fixing issues up front, etc.....

Inquire about service times on warranty work, turn-around times,

Sometimes hanging out at a dealer, you will get a vibe from the service center & customer satisfaction.

When shopping are they ONLY worried with selling(telling you what-ever, pushy with sales tactics), not matching you to the correct unit & have a way to help with product satsfaction.

Visual, does it look organized, customers scheduled, accessible, etc...

Repeat customers.

Search on this forum, some CW locations, get repeat threads on their service.

Good Luck

There are so many different opinions of the same dealer, I do not know if it would work even if there is one. It would be interesting if there is.
