Most fresh water spigots in parks have also been used for black water hoses to flush and clean the septic hose and area. I would certainly not want to hook up my fresh water inlet to a spigot that just had a black water hose attached a few hours earlier that morning.
The guy using the Lysol probably has the best solution for cleaning.... plus the running of the faucet a bit before connecting is also a good idea.

Why buy a rig with fresh water system and not use it for all purposes?

Have ya ever taken a drink from a garden hose ? Did ya sanitize it ?
I do not believe it is worthwhile to worry about ever little thing , just take reasonable precautions . As for joining the ends of the hoses together , not in the south , that will cause all kinds of things to grow in that dark , moist, warm place !

I've heard hydrogen peroxide works to disinfect instantly whereas bleach takes a few minutes.
Bleach disinfects at room temperature. In order for hydrogen peroxide (3%) to be as effective, it would have be heated to 130 degrees..

I used to go through that, but started to buy gallon jugs of distilled water for anything that goes inside of me, like coffee, cooking or soaking my teeth (in a cup). The outside of me is waterproof, so I just hook up the white hose.
We full-timed for 16 years. At 365 days x 16 years that would be 5840 days. Buying at least a gallon of water for each day....WOW!
We never worried about sanitizing. We filled the fresh water tank and used it for everything. We did use filters though. We got our water from many sources and never got sick from it.

If a little dirt hasn't killed me yet, I don't worry about it. My water inlet is in the same bin as the sewer stuff, but I try to keep everything separate. When not in use, I connect the ends of my fresh water hose attached together to keep bugs and stuff out.
