Seriously... who calls it glamping?

Glamping??? As a woman I know some would think that I would find this new terminology "cute". Seriously every time I read the word glamping... glamper, I want to punch someone in the face. That is the DUMBEST, dorkiest, just down right most awful term for camping that anyone has ever come up with. I just had to post to find out why? Why would anyone refer to it as that? Who invented the term? Does it make you cringe as much as it make me cringe? Sorry, had to vent.

This is Glamping from 100 years ago. Ol' Henry Ford used to hang out with John Burroughs, Thomas Edison, Harvey Firestone, and President Harding. Henry sent people ahead to set up the individual private tents, the dining tent, and the cooking tent as well as the tent for the servants. They considered chipped china from room service "roughing it". ๐Ÿ™‚

Heaven forbid we should actually stay "on topic" for seven whole pages!

If i ever meet the person that created the term "glamping" i'll hit them upside the head with my glamp chair then go back to my glampsite and enjoy the glampground!

The term is ridiculous! Even if i wasn't an RV'er!!!

Not if you're glamping in it responsibly. ๐Ÿ™‚

Never heard the term but I now understand.
I used to be a camper as we camped in a tent.
19 Years ago we became glampers as we bought our first TT.
At our age we will stay glampers!!

This is funny to me because I refuse to call anything to do with the RV "camping." If I have a microwave, fridge, TV and indoor plumbing, that's not camping just because I'm not at home. It's RVing. Might as well call a hotel camping.

When my son was younger, I told him we were going camping and he was excited because Mom was coming along. Then he started crying when he realized we were staying at a campground. "You said we were going CAMPING!!" To him "camping" meant backpacking in to a primitive site, or pulling off the trail where there was no established site. (Leave No Trace). He was six then. He still had fun, though.

Anyway, I don't care what other folks call it as long as they're enjoying the outdoors responsibly. But I'll still laugh at you a little for saying you're "camping" on a king-sized sleep number bed. I guess I'd call staying in pretty much any RV "glamping." ๐Ÿ™‚
