So who likes those new LED strip lights on the front of RVs?

Gotta say, I now have my first experience with someone across from me on my last camping trip that had those long 3' LED lights in a "V" shape on the front of his nice, new, big AF 5th wheel...

Turned them on just before dusk and kept them on until dawn....

Lit up the whole campground with them too... ๐Ÿ™‚

Right into the side window next to the bed.. I was about 75 yards or so away from him. Had to put up a towel over the window to cover it, it was so bright..

I don't have black out blinds, but after this experience and if this is going to become a trend, I'm going to be getting them..

I'm calling him Mr. Obnoxious ha, ha!

No, I'm not going to tell him to turn them off... Obviously, he feels the need to do it, so I'll not intrude on his right to do so.

They have 'quiet time' rules in the State Park I'm in, but no 'bright light time' rules, so he is entitled to do as he pleases.

I figured out the way to block it, so no big deal, but this is maybe only the second or third time in over 15 years of camping with this trailer that I've had to do that with the towel over the window..

Not really a 'rant' as such, but just wondering why this is something that looks to be a factory installed item, as it looks to be molded into the front of the 5th wheel by the manufacturer?

I have pics of it, but it's dark and does not really show how bright they really are, so no point in posting them.

I know I can do the whole 'boondock' thing and get away from people, and if I'm not willing to do that, then I have to accept it.. I know that.

But, just saying... ๐Ÿ™‚

Ha, ha!

Rip away people, because I know you all do when I post things like this! ๐Ÿ™‚

We use the foil bubble wrap in all of our bedroom windows day and night. We don't have day/night shades and we like it very dark and it keeps the heat out better.

I turn ours on when our friends visit after dark and turn them off after they leave for the night.

I do not think it is fear of the dark.

It is just a show off attention getter let it hang out thing. :R

I don't understand the need for light pollution; I guess it's a "look at me" thing.

Otoh...the lights at the bathhouse here at this COE are so bright they could be seen from space. From the next loop it looks like the mothership.

It's not just RV's. I was in a state forest campground last week that was very nice. The night before I left, some tent campers set up with (2) double-mantle lanterns. Lit up the whole campground. I like to leave the windows uncovered also, but you do what you have to do.

I don't think you realize how bright those LED strips are on these Arctic Foxes. They are BRIGHT. Obnoxiously bright.
If I lost the headlights on my pickup and I was towing at night, I would turn them on, and only have to slow down a little!

Did I mention they are bright?

Well Mitch, no rippin' from Uncle Bob here.....

But I will put my arm on your shoulder and say ya man I hear you on that one...

Just spent 2 weeks in a nice little CG barely on the way to our destination when I broke my truck, but heck that's ok, 2 weeks somewhere is better than a tow home on day 1 of 3 weeks.

So we get the rig all set up and nestled nicely in there with lots of trees and such. Ahh nice place, gonna be dark nights here, love it. And for a couple nights it was lovely. Didn't need to even close blinds. Sleep tight!

Night 3, in rolls the usual array of TT's, MH's, 5vers, tents and such, and a couple hippiemobiles that made me grin.

Guy beside us sets up, darkness arrives and on they come, the big bright V thing on the front, a porch light that could illuminate the far side of Mars, the big long bright LED strip under the awning, and a couple other goofy things....

Dude! The 4th of July was a month and a half ago! A while later we turn in for the night, a big beacon coming in the window.... Lit up half the campground he did!

This turkey left all this (insert 4 letter word of choice) on all night, and every night for the 4 days he was there!!

Yeah Mitch, I'm with ya pal on this one!

When he packed up to leave I thought of thanking him for being so thoughtful to vacate the place, but I just smiled quietly to myself and brewed another cup of coffee.

Life is good. ๐Ÿ™‚

Then again, if we were feeling so uptight that a strip of LED lights would give us issue then we'd probably look to boondock so we could enjoy the night sky to the fullest. Certainly not going to do that in a CG with 100 other people around us.

I saw an "entitled" post on the previous page. How ironic.

I used to work up north where sun stays up till midnight in summer,
First thing I did was to put heavy covers on windows so I could get some shut eye..

Speaking of truck lights
I guess some people like to be seen.. ๐Ÿ™‚

Our Arctic Fox "whisker" lights are independent of one another....not switched on by the pouch light switch but by individual switches in each light....

Someone posted that they would be a deal breaker for them....gosh, the Fox is a really nice trailer. Lights are not a deal breaker for me...especially when I can easily control when they are on or off. Lots of other "deal breakers like a bed you can't walk around or a shower that is too small to use or no counter space or no place for the trash or no pantry or a flat roof or or or...

Anyway, interesting discussion. I think I'll go shave my whiskers...

On my last trip I inadvertently left my porch light on all night, not my usual practice. My door doesn't have a window and the switch blends in with the others on the switch bank, easy to do. Now on my "to do" list is install an interior indicator light that shows when the porch light is on. Might as well install indicators for the scare lights as well.

Like this one?

A little eccentric, But then again this was the tow vehicle!!!

ya, I got to admit I wouldn't turn the blue lights on the TT, but I sure would have loved to own this truck. :B

Yes, Scott. That is exactly the setup, just on a 5th wheel. Didn't know they were switched to the porch light too.. Could not tell that was on because the V lights were so bright! ๐Ÿ™‚ Oh, I didn't mention that he also had a nice blue LED rope light UNDER the rig as well... What a nice effect, indeed... ๐Ÿ˜‰
