Stool seal leaks

My new camper the seal in the stool doesn't hold water. What I mean is that the water will drain out slowly over time and it seems that the black tank fumes are getting into camper. It isn't real strong smell but still an aroma.

On my old camper there would always be some water in the bowl unless we were gone and didn't use it for a couple of weeks and I assume it just evaporated. Shouldn't there be some water and if so how do I fix this?

Talked with dealer this morning. He will be up on Thursday with a new stool if needed or he mentioned something about cleaner/lube.

If it's new I'd have the dealer look at it when they deliver that other unit. You can also try some seal lube as well. We have an older TT and replaced the seal & blade and it's not a bad job, but there's no reason you should need to with a brand new trailer.

That happened to me several years ago. I removed the toilet, removed the seal and scraped the calcium deposits off the seal. Not a difficult job but very messy.

You don't say what the make and model your toilet is but mine is a Thetford Aqua Magic V.

When mine wouldn't hold water, I got a cheap, firm, toilet brush from Walmart.
Stepped on the flush lever and gave everything in the flap, seal area a really good scrubbing . UP and down while twisting the brush, after the third time doing this it stopped leaking.
I guess toilet paper gets caught in the area of the seal.

I put several good squirts of WD 40 in the bottom. It swelled the seals and stopped leaking.

This is a new Cedar Creek cottage. I traded the Montana on it. It is set up in a campground spot that I have leased annually for the last 4 years. Don't really want to tear it down and take to dealer for something that seems to possible an easy fix. I am not very handy though but some of the suggestions seem to be something I may be able to handle.

The dealer will be delivering another unit to this campground in about 10 days I may just have him take a look.

But if this new is your 2011 Montana then you need to clean/lube toilet bowl seal and ball valve.

This means getting in there with your hands....old soft toothbrush and scrub seal top/bottom flexing seal as you clean it and the ball valve. Then rinse it clean and wipe dry. Using olive oil or plumbers grease (no vasoline) lube up seal thoroughly and ball valve.

If after cleaning/lubing and it still doesn't hold water........replace seal.

Water in toilet bowl provides a vapor barrier and is how toilet should work

Ive used plumbers grease or mineral oil on the ball and seal. That helps for awhile.

Yes there should be water held in the commode. It is evidently leaking as the seal should be but is not holding wster. you can try cleaning it making sure nothing stuck in the edge of the seal letting water past.if not something stuck and camper is new I would think it should be fixed under warranty. one way or another you may need a new seal.
