Your post motivated me to buy one. I just got it today (30A model) at the Camping World in Albuquerque. Regular price was $329.99. I joined the C.W. club for $25, giving me a $50 discount. In addition they gave me a voucher good for up to $25 at any Good Sam park. So, I wound up with an actual $50 discount after I use the voucher.

That's a very reasonable price, I bought ours five years ago on sale for $279.00. Very cheap insurance for something that might not happen to you!

Thanks for the reminder. I've done without a surge protector for 25 years without a problem but your post is impelling me to get one. I've just been fortunate so far but now it's time for action before I regret it. (I only need 30 amp)

BTW, I'm practically within walking distance to Camping World here in Albuquerque. How convenient!

That is a great price and a great unit. We have used that one for two years and it has saved us twice. (Lightening & Brown out)

well i wouldn't want that lock hasp myself. ensures that the cord will also get stolen or cut. I epoxied a padlock hasp to the side of mine for security.

Just remember it only has a 1 year warranty, where the Progressive Industries is life time, and isn't that much more than CW sale price.

We bought ower rig in 2001 in December, in January of 2002 I installed a 30A hard wired Shure Guard it has saved us from a couple of lightning strikes some where dow line while travelling in Mexico, and also some of the parks in the US with poor ground or fluctuating volage.

These units are worth the money, the price on the long run is nothing compared to having the refrigerator's heater, the tv, the microwave and the air conditioner fried plus any other pluged item down line.

I was going to purchase the pedestall unit, If you can install the hard wired one, you have one less item to worry about being stollen and or forgotten.

This item is worth every cent that you invest in it.

You may be right. On page 80 of the July issue of Trailer Life there's a photo of a guy you used a piece of chain with a padlock at each end. He wrapped it around the power post and then to each end of the Surge Guard. A cheap effective way to protect the unit.

Yep, I can't think of one insurance policy I want to collect on- but it's sure nice to know it's there if I do have to collect....
