Is there a way to tow a Ford Transit Van with 4-wheels down?

I would venture to say..."do it at your own peril".
Ford must have a very good reason for stating those restrictions in the manual.

Google 2015 Transit owner's manual and make your own determination.

Personally, I would go by the book and not tempt fate and possible denial of any warranty. I would imagine a 6sp. auto would be a tad expensive to replace.

Mogman indicated towing could be done but with a max speed of 35MPH. That would stop most of us from using a Transit as a toad. Anyone have a feeling that the 35MPH is not necessary and that you could go faster without creating damage?

Thanks for the feedback.

Owner's manual says you cannot tow a 2015 Transit four down except in an emergency.

Are there any towbar setups available for the Promaster ? Right now i am waiting for Quigley to start producing a 4wd Transit so i could tow a van but the Promaster might work.

I did figure out that the Ram Promaster in diesel configuration is towable. It uses an automated manual transmission and it says in the owners manual (the addendum for the diesel) that it is towable and the simple steps to do so.

Now if they would just put that transmission with the gas engine, I would be the first to try one out.

From my owner's manual.....

Your vehicle is facing forward so that
it is towed in a forward direction.
• The transmission selector lever is
placed in position N. If the transmission
gear shift lever cannot be moved to
position N, it may need to be
overridden. See Automatic
Transmission (page 133).
• Maximum speed is 35 mph (56 km/h).
• Maximum distance is 50 miles (80
kilometers).

It then goes on to say towing behind a motorhome, use the above guidelines or...use a trailer or put the front wheels on a dolly which doesn't make any sense to me as the Transit is rear wheel drive.

Google 2015 Transit owner.s manual and check it out for yourself.
