Travel souveniers

Have been traveling with the family now for a few years. Usually I purchase a T-shirt or more during our travels. However have concluded that they dont last as a memory of a trip due to wear and tear. My DW collects shot glasses, one of my sons collects snow globes, and my mother collected spoons. Purchased a TT lapel/hat pin recently and have decided I will attach them to my hat as a record of our travels. Already have a GSC life member pin on it, now the fun part of getting on line and finding ones from the states we have already been. Just curious to learn what others collect on their travels.

I often find some unique tool to add to my toolbox. Everytime I use one of the tools I remember where I was when I bought it.

Can't believe I'm the first to list postcards. When we started our first long adventure with the kids, we knew we wanted to do something from each place. We ended up settling on postcards for a few reasons. First, 50 cent souvenirs sounded better than the other options. Second, the walls of our trailer are slowly being covered with beautiful memories!

We had done the pressed pennies for a while, but they aren't in many locations. Postcards are everywhere.

I used to collect street signs, until a really angry cop convinced me to do otherwise...

I write a blog and include photos. At the end of the year I print it into a nice hard-cover book that I can read. If there is something that the area is known for I might indulge. For example if the city is famous for its pottery I may get a bowl or jug.

It is a bit hard for me to not collect lots as I inherited a souvineer gene from both my grandfather and father 😉

For now probably get just pins for the states we've been, and few for extra special locations. One that comes to mind is a Disney Fort Wilderness, since we had a Disney vacation in 2010. If the pins get too many for the hat, i'll do the board thing also.

I usually get a decal for a place we have been. I do not like the decals on the outside of the motorhome so I place them inside the bay doors so they will show when the door is open.

I collect things I find along my journey's. I found a stirrup in Wyoming, Horshoe in Alaska, a dear antler in Canada that I use as a clothes hanger in the bedroom and another set of antlers in Tennessee that I put on each side of the slide out on top. Things that I find and add to the MH reminds me of the trip.

Not really into souvenirs. We like to have a few good photos, and if we find something else we like, it will be a reminder. We have a wooden bowl from Costa Rica, gorgeous candles from UP Michigan, a watercolor from Santa Fe, and so on.

I have a lot, but only keep 4 in the trailer. I usually pick the 4 that most pertain to the next trip. 🙂
