Can anyone tell me what detergent or cleaner is best for removing tree sap from roof and upper side walls?

I used alcohol after getting lots of tree sap on our coach. An RV park cut off low hanging branches so coach would fit under the tree. What a mistake that was, never again. Alcohol worked great.

Sap removal test

I've been using alcohol with good results. I Imagine it removes any wax too.

I had good luck using Simple Green on a gunked-up roof after our pop-up trailer sat under a tree (Chinese Elm) for months.....

Depends on what type of roof you have. Some should not have any petroleum products used like WD40 would be.

Ours is aluminum and we use Awesome with great results.

Pine pitch/sap (and that form spruce and similar softwoods) can be softened and removed using some sort of oil-based substance. A pat of butter works nicely on one's hands, and I would think would work equally well on an RV. Of course you then have to wash the butter off, but soap and water and a bit of elbow grease should do that.

After sitting under the pines at Custer last week I'll need to tackle some pine sap too. Really hoping it comes off easy.

in a previous thread tree sap removal was discussed for trucks. I found goof off worked the best.

I have found that WD-40 does some amazing things for cleaning gooie stuff. You might give it a shot (literally)!

Goo Gone (http://googone.com/) is also pretty good on stuff too.

But on the roof, I'd just forget it.
