Water softner - love it

Just camped for a week using the portable water softener I got after many years of camping - wow it worked great and makes cleaning the sinks and shower a breeze, company says will last 1-2 weeks before you need to regenerate it using 2 lbs of table salt.

I thought they were more expensive than they are - a work camper tipped me off to get it straight from the maker in Ohio.

Price was $173 no freight or tax to Minnesota, $227 on sale at camping world currently

PS I have nothing to do with this company

I have a friend with an On the Go and I couldn't see any difference between it and the FloPur Mark 8000. They both have premium resin beads and are 8000 grain units. Like FloPur they may make a 10,000 grain unit now.

There are only 2 things that we don't really like about the RV lifestyle & one of them is the hard water. Bought a water softener a few years back eliminating one dislike. There is only one place where the water is better & that is right here at home in Bermuda where rainwater is collected from our roofs & channeled into tanks below our homes. It is used, completely untreated, from there.

Picked up a blue "On the Go" at a Rio Grande Valley RV park patio sale a couple of years ago. Works great and don't know how we did without one. Re-charge it about every three weeks or so. Cost me $20, gotta love it when people decide to go to a park model trailer and ditch all the RV accessories.

I have the FloPur Mark 8000 which is a 8000 grain unit. With the hardest water I found anywhere - AZ, at least 50 grains per gallon - ours would last at least 10 days between recharges. Unless you use a lot more water per day than we did (13 1/2 gallons per day) yours should last at least two weeks with water that hard and over a month with more common hardness of 20 gpg.

I've used a FlowPur for years. It is a real plus in places where the water is hard. No water spots. Best part is you don't have to buy bottled water for coffee and drinking.

Yes outside by the faucet - I have to check on the regulator - I did not use mine

Not only for cleaning ease... if they're not already too far gone, you'll see things like faucets and the ice maker begin working better.
