By page 100, I was, like, "I can't believe this book hasn't been made into a movie". It is absolutely hilarious. In my head, I had already cast Hugh Grant, Zach Galifianakis &
Janeane Garofalo.
Since then, I've learned it WAS made into a movie with Robert Redford & Nick Nolte. I guess I just don't get out much!
The book was awesome - I hated the movie.

Walk in the Woods was my first Bryson book. I LOVE his books. I have read many of them. You might like Notes from a Small Island. He married a woman from England and lived there for about 18 years. Then they moved back to US for a while and he wrote I'm a Stranger Here Myself about adjusting to life in US after living in England. I believe they are back in England again. He did a backpacking tour of Europe in his 20's and wrote Neither Here Nor There.and just this past year or so did the journey again and wrote about it in another book The Road to Little Dribbling. I also love One Summer American 1927. It was all about Charles Lindberg , Babe Ruth, Al Capone, Calvin Coolidge and the lead up to the Depression and lots of other events that took place that year. I never realized that Lindberg was such a star and hero of those times. I think the best Bryson thought is A Short History of Nearly Everything. He writes about everything.... just everything. It was fascinating as all get out. Another one I loved is At Home..A Short History of Private Life. He walks around his house from room to room and writes all about houses and things to do with house and how people lived and used houses.
As you might be able to tell I am a huge fan of Bryson.
