Wholesale prices

Quick question, which I am quite sure I will receive cruel ridicule as if I were camp comedy.
Does anyone on here with mercy tell me what a manufacturer sells trailer to their distributors. I just an example of any 30 plus foot tt.

First off, I bought the 5er, sold my house and became a fulltimer. So I do not have a local dealer. Or to look at it another way, my local dealer is wherever I happen to be now, right ? I also talked with Heartland. They will, AND HAVE, authorized other dealerships or even independent techs to do repairs. I am not naive so I know where I stand with a dealership that was not my original selling dealer. But if they want to keep their shop fully employed, why would they turn down my business ? And isn't someone who is taking a cross country summer vacation from South Carolina to Yellowstone in a new camper and has a fridge break down in Wyoming in the same exact situation ?

The original warranty for most rigs is 1 year. For most non-fulltimers that really means 1 summer and a month extra on each end where you get the benefit of free repairs. After that we're all pretty much equal paying customers.

In hindsight, I think I would do the same exact thing over again.

I've purchased three new RVs over the years all from local dealers. When it came to warranty service the dealers hands were usually tied and I was at the mercy of the factory for approval. Usually my unit would sit at the dealers lot for weeks waiting for warranty work. After warranty service just put me at the end of the long line of other work the dealer had scheduled. As far as I could see most of the RV dealers actually run two companies out of the same location, one for sales and one for service and the two don't really cooperate. There may be dealers where this isn't true, but finding them is difficult and they may not be local to where I live. My next RV will be purchased on price alone, and service after the sale will not be a factor.

I see prices on New trailers are often listed at about $9000 under MSRP on many sites. This leads me to believe your 3% is way too little.

I would start with the lower prices on the net and get the dealer to give you an email with that price in it...then use that to bracket the price you are negotiating.

Sometimes it's difficult to find MSRP. Dealers will just quote you a price with options listed. Try and get a quote that has the manufacturers MSRP listed and the dealer just checks off the options and totals the quote price to you. You may need to email a few dealers to get this type of a quote.
