It's not that it bothers the other 98+ percent of us, we just marvel at the stupidity of at least a major chunk of Oregonians

You can laugh all you want while pumping your own gas at .40 more per gal.
I just marvel at the ignorance of some people.

As someone who lives in neighboring Washington, (anytime you pull into an Oregon gas station with Washington plates, they expect to tell you that you can't pump your own gas). I have always wanted to get an Oregon gas pumping license so I could pull up to the pump and when the guy freaks out, show him that I'm licensed..... Having said that, I once had a conversation with a young lady pump attendant in a small Oregon town that was convinced that pumping gas is right up there with Brain Surgery or landing on an aircraft carrier. She honestly couldn't fathom that there are places on this planet where people are able to pump their own gas.

x2. About a 3rd of the time I get asked.

X3, A easy fix to not wanting someone else pumping your gas don't come to Oregon.

Tech companies importing guest workers isn't due to a lack of available domestic tech workers, despite what the lobbyists are selling everyone.

But if you are not allowed to pump your own gas, that means that pump jockeys have jobs. Minimum wage perhaps, but still Jobs.

And today in the USA, there are not enough jobs and fewer every month as jobs are shipped offshore.

Unemployment is 4.1%. RV'rs complain about build quality and there's a shortage of skilled workers. Tech companies have to import guest workers. Look in healthcare and how many workers have been imported to meet demand? Etcetera.

What's gone is working for one employer your whole career. For most people anyway.

I would love to take my 1976 Pontiac Lemans to a station with a full service attended and laugh at them while they try to figure out where the gas cap is.

Someone mentioned getting out in the rain. All the gas stations around here have canopies over them so that doesn't matter. Now, on the other hand, on days when it is less the 0 degrees Fahrenheit I would be willing to pay a little more to have someone do it for me. But, there is nowhere like that left anymore. Sometimes I get friends kids to do it for me. But, they should look like they are teenagers because it is against the law for anyone in MN to pump gas under 16.

I didn't read this whole thread but, there have been a lot of jokes on Facebook about this. Where I live I can't think of anywhere within a 100 miles of me where you can even find someone to pump your gas for you anymore.

The unemployment rate has been dropping for the last year. With the new tax law, companies are flowing back into the the US. And by your economic viewpoint it should be illegal for you to walk out to your mailbox or cook your own dinner. People could have those jobs you know.
