K-9 Emergency while at MB

With 3 elderly dogs, we always locate the closest Vet when we travel. 3rd day at the beach, our 12 yr, female Chihuahua had a respiratory event. She couldn't stop coughing and was not getting enough air, We drove to "OnPoint" and they took her right in, recognizing the situation. She had a heart attack as they took her into the back for exam. Dr Todd was able to revive her and went to work on her immediately. For the next 4 days, she went back and forth between OnPoint during the day and the Emergency Clinic at night. Required constant monitoring. We were able to get her back for the weekend, and Dr Todd gave her a final exam on Monday evening. Cleared her for travel and we were able to get her home to Virginia. Now two weeks later, she is back to about 90% of her old self. Playing with the others and her favorite toys.
If not for Dr Todd & Dr Meg of OnPoint during this period we would have lost a very sweet little dog. I can not recommend these people enough. If you are traveling in the MB or NMB area, make a point to locate them so that you are prepared. They are next to the Bi-Lo grocery, behind the Harley Davidson dealer on 17.

Thanks everyone for the good thoughts. She is now about 95%, still on about 10 meds a day, but seems almost like her old self most days.
Please if nothing else, error on the side of caution and locate a local vet in your travels. It saved her life!

Just to reiterate, where ever you are staying, locate the closest Vet. In case of emergency you don't want to be running around blind trying to find help. Thanks for the good thoughts everyone.

Ditto X2

I travel with 2 seniors each with their own health afflictions.
I pull in. Put the MH in Park. And look up the nearest Vet office, and Critical Care Clinic. and/or ask the CG manager for referral when checking in.

Numbers get taped to fridge.

So happy the vets where able to help your pet in her time of need. And thank you for posting the clinic you used in that area. It will surely someday help another RV'er.

Wishing you the best in your continued safe travels with your dogs. :C

We must be willing to get rid of the life we've planned,
so as to have the life that is waiting for us.

Good to know, we stay in NMB twice a year for a week or so and this
recommendation is very much appreciated.

I'm glad she's okay!

And thanks for the recommendation. We go to Myrtle Beach regularly, so it's good to have a vet in mind.
