Teflon Lubricant Spray

Anyone have any input of using Teflon spray lubricant on the rubber seals for slides instead of silicone? Presently, I use silicone as many others do, but am wondering if Teflon would work better in keeping them looking new and for lubrication.

Looks like I am going to continue using Silicone until I find some 303. Thanks all.

Great question.

But I see that there is a Teflon silicone blend. Now what? :? Is this a miracle product that solves all your dry lube needs all in one can? Teflon silicone blend Description says it's a general purpose lube that "Waterproofs, protects, lubricates and preserves rubber, plastic, vinyl, leather, metal and wood"

From a chemical engineering application perspective, is there a difference between Teflon, silicone and PTFE is one better or worse in some uses? Does one last longer or adhere better?

I don't know what a TT manufacturer says to use, but I'd rather use something like Protect All slide seal lube that is known to be okay. But then, Protect All doesn't say what's in it. If it's specifically formulated for slide seals, maybe there's also something in it to help preserve the rubber?

x3. The one thing I learned from ages ago with bicycles is that there is no "one size fits all" lubricant. PTFE is excellent for locks and metal/metal areas. Silicon is quite useful for rubber seals to keep them pliable and protect from cracking. Finally, petroleum based oils are useful for penetrating to loosen up frozen fasteners. Petrolium oils on a seal will destroy rubber. PTFE doesn't do much on rubber.

Dupont recommends the use of PTFE spray "for tight tolerance, metal-on-metal applications."
