As I reported from an e-mail directly from CPE earlier, the inverter WILL NOT be available before August at the earliest.

Got mine today...assembled it (easy), put in fuel and oil but have yet to fire it up. A bit bigger than I thought it would be, but looking forward to hearing it run. Fit and finish are impressive for the label saying "Made in China", even though I know it is an American company. I always say that if it is priced like it is made in China, then I am OK with that. But when they make in China and price it like it is made in the USA, then I say @#$%^! This thing impresses me so far. Stay tuned.

I'm somewhat disappointed in the new muffler system we see in the pictorial of the NEW RC/ES Champion on 3000w Chinese Genset info' thread. May be one reason some are saying 'it's loud' ?? Something new there. My Champion C46540 is quite different. May be the difference in the sound levels? I don't think they will prove to be the same in sound levels???? Is this progress? What's up?

Got tracking info today. Due to be delivered on June 24th. Left California on the 18th.

email received to show fulfillment on Jun 11. email received with tracking info on Jun 16. received generator on Jun 18. It actually took 7 days from the time I ordered the generator to the generator arriving at my doorstep. Only 5 days according to FedEx tracking.

My neighbor has an Onan Marquis 5500 LP generator installed in his class A winnebago that is super quiet. The 46538 does what its supposed to do and quite well just not as quiet as the Onan. It's all relative.

So how long from placing the order to getting the tracking info?
Glad you have yours. How loud is it, say compared to an installed onan on a TT or Class A?

I received the generator on Friday. 5 days to Maryland. It took a couple days to get the tracking info but it did come in my email. I was able to track the package the whole way through FedEx. They're estimate was 3-4 weeks???

W8NONU... Did you get your generator? I ordered mine on the 12th. Costco.com still shows my order as "sent to fulfillment", with no tracking info available.

Anywho, hopefully us guys w/ our noisy Champions can get along with you hot shots w/ your nice quiet Hondas & Yammys (right now I can only dream). Better start loading up early so I can get a decent spot before the onslaught. Thanks for all the stories & insight. It keeps us all honest & humble anyway. Good luck out there.

I have camped next to guys with Champios and didn't find them any louder than my twins when I was running the AC.

I find that any generator is no better than hte owner. Some people (with ALL brands) run their generators way too much.

You guys, with your Champions are welcome to camp next to me anytime. My grandkids will probably make more noise than your generator and they seem to want to camp with us every time we go.

Saw where you received the part you needed and am curious how loud the gen is? Wondering if I should wait for the inverters and hope they are at a decent price or gamble on the big gen. I do like the idea of the smaller ones being inverters and a lot lighter in weight. But at the price now that Costco has them its hard to pass it up. But if they are loud enough to cause problems with the neighbors or the parks service I will pass.
Anyway, what is you take on the noise level??? I guess it runs at full speed all the time vs the smaller inverters, right?

According to FedEX, I should be receiving my generator tomorrow. Shipped 6/14 estimated delivery 6/18. California to Maryland in five days. Can this be true? :B We'll see.

Hey again curt12914,

I've been lurking here awhile (last couple years) & have seen this forum in all it's glory & into it's darkest gloomy corners. I'm pretty handy around a trailer, built things for it, "moded" things out(currently trying to weld a bracket for a hitch receiver mount on the back so I don't have to carry those damn bikes inside anymore). My folks got me into it at an early age, we had a couple old Ideal trailers growing up. Saw some beautiful country back then & always wanted to let my kids see it too. Last year we finally got out of tent camping & into a little 19ft Fleetwood. It's bare bones for our family of 5, but it sleeps us all & the kiddies each have their own beds (but they have to fight over the bunk!) Last summer went to Yellowstone/Grand Teton, Dinosaur, Zion, etc... Had a ball! The trailer opened up so many more opportunities for us. Not having to get a motel anymore just for a shower, staying cooler with the AC (my favorite), being able to just pull over anywhere & use the bathroom (a biggy w/ 3 bladder challenged kids) & just sleeping better knowing we had a real roof over our heads when bad weather rolls in.

Now, with the addition of this little yellow beauty we can go places we never could before in comfort & security. My parents are both 75 & they are still active RVers. Of course, they've got the dream rig (40ft Dutch Star) to cruise around in. That thing has it all. They're gone more than they're home! My dad doesn't think they'll be doing it much longer, but I tell him he's crazy for not. I think that's what keeps them "young"... at heart anyway. We got a 1000 Trails membership through them too which is nice. $30/yr & we can camp anywhere they have the preserves, some are RPI or Naco & they're up & down the west coast where we live. This weekend we're going to Rancho Oso NE of Santa Barbara & it's only an hour & a half away from home.

Yeah, the economy's tanked on us too. New construction has dried up here on the cenral coast. It's not like it used to be when you're so busy you couldn't see straight. Trying to get on w/ Pacific Gas & Electric through the union right now. Never been more unsure about the financial future, but we're doin' the best we can, like everyone else just scraping along.

The original Champion's could be often found in the $200 - $300 range, which is a substantial saving over the $1700 price tag of twin Honda's. BTW - An owner troubleshooting a generator with a tech on the phone is a choice, not a requirement. Some folks prefer to do it themselves rather than lug it to a service center and wait. At least they have a choice.

Back in the old days when I had an electronics repair business it was amazing how many big heavy console TV sets were hauled into the shop because someone plugged them into a wall switch controlled outlet. I have a funny story on one of those - but this is not the time or place to tell it.

Too bad I wasn't offering 24/7 telephone tech support to my customers back then.
