Or "the market" could pressure Honda to once again offer their obsolete but outstanding little 650 watt four-stroke ~no-noise (a 54dB low humming) genny that runs 5-6 hours on 1/2 gallon of gas after a one-pull startup.

We use one every 2-3 days on RV trips for battery top-up, and travel with friends who until recently fired up an identical one every evening for 3-4 hours while they sat inside with - a good serving of ice cream, their little dog, their unusually quiet RV furnace cycling, and stared at a great old John Wayne western on their TV screen while topping up their batteries and maybe drycamping close to a mountain range and a prairie dog hole. 🙂

Lithium Ion batteries also use Cobalt which is less common than Lithium. Much chemistry is being done to reduce the amount of Cobalt used.

LiFe do not use Cobalt.

I'm pondering what design of super batteries would make electric RVs practical,.....for me.

I have no doubt batteries will get better more eficient in the future..its human nature to improve things

There will ALWAYS be a better design. Putting money on any 1 technology is going to be a losing battle. Solar will (hopefully) save us, but nothing that's not renewable (without creating more pollution) energy will keep humans on this Planet. We are only here for a short time in astronomical history anyway but it would be nice to still be able to breathe clean air before we get wiped out.

To get clean air planting more trees would no doubt help.
Chinese have the right idea, replanting the deserts.

Before the little guys start making too much off their lithium deposits, the industry will dump lithium and switch to fluorine instead. they've been hyping a new "low temperature" design that seems effective in the test tube, just need to make it scale up now.

Well, I have nothing to add about Lithium batteries. But since half of the OP's post was about New Mexico red sauce (wasn't it??), I am posting my Killer Red Sauce recipe over on the Camping Cuisine forum. I would not want to hijack this thread by posting it here!

Now back to batteries.

None. Just as no design will make electric cars practical. Well, not at least until we have no coal fired, oil fired, natural gas fired, methane fired, nuclear fired power plants. So, until all of our power comes from renewable sources, the argument is just white noise.
