Update on hot hubs on first trip

I made a post a couple days about how hot two of my hubs felt after my first trip with my new camper. I just returned home and measured the temps of each hub with a thermometer after the 2 1/2 hour drive the two on the drivers side were between 100 and 120 degrees the passenger were about 80-10 degrees. My question is I have a toy hauler and I keep it to the drivers side of the garage so I have more storage space is this an issue and would you be worried about these temps or are they ok.

True story:
I use a "Gen-turi" Generator exhaust extension.. Well one weekend I was providing electricity for an "Event" and we were set up in a park. The park "Ranger" (representive) ask how hot the pipe got... At that point the Genny had been running for at least an hour.. I went over and wrapped my hand around it and invited him to do the same (Very warm, Think hot bath)

Well one day at a Wal*mart it was HOT, I mean HOT, so I hooked up the Gent-turi fired the genny to run the Roof A/C's for Kitty and Katty (Amber and Alex our house cats) the Genny was on the south side of the RV, overheated and shut down (House did not overheat) Even with the genny OFF the black pipe was too hot to handle. Just from the SUN.

So yes the sunny side gets HOTTER.. big time.
Home was where I park it. but alas the.

I have found that the side in the sun is always 10 to 20+ degree's hotter.
If you have a real problem like grease on brakes or a failing bearing, you likely see temps of 160 degrees or better.
At least that is my experience.

But do lift the trailer and check for brake drag (there should be some but not too much), hub looseness and bearing smoothness.

On your previous post, you had several suggestions to rise the camper and spin the wheels to see if you have any drag, meaning the brakes are dragging, which would cause excessive heat.

Did you do this yet? If not, it's hard to rule out any other possibilities. Probably everyone is going to come back with the same response ... check for brake drag.

If you have done this and the wheel spin freely on both sides, and all tires, then there may be something else going on. Let us know your findings.

For example, although a new camper, it could be bad bearings. Any number of things, but we need to rule out brake drag first.

And could be something as simple as the bearing were not packed properly with grease. There are lots of factors.

Were the higher temp ones consistently in the sun during the drive, and the other side consistently in the shade? Makes a difference.

I would jack it up and see if the wheels spin free, or about the same on both sides.
