Hello all

When I return from my Europe trip this August I will give it a try to replace my rubber roof on my Jayco 5er.

I will do this in Santa Cruz California, I would like to order the material and have it there when I get back.

With that said, Does anyone know a supplier of rubber roof replacement kits at a good price ??

If (IF) going for membrane replacement, I would try and find supplies separately first - membrane, caulk, adhesive etc. Paying special attention to the date stamped on the caulk tubes. If you buy a kit for 25ft roof and you roof is 21, the remaining 4ft will make a poor but expensive doormat. There can be good deals on EPDM on Craigs and Ebay.

The kits are sold cut to the length requested, priced accordingly. Why would anyone buy more than needed??

There are several companies that offer kits for re roofing. Best Materials and Rubber roof Top and Just Liners are three of them.
The kits include EPDM roofing material, primer, adhesive, Dicor caulking, butyl tape and new AC gaskets.
The kits are available for RVs from 20 to 40 feet.

Good point, dcg. Underlying particle board often needs repair, at this stage.

I understand that spray-on liquid coat by Flexarmor is not DIY - the company will do it and will charge for everything - material, labor and equipment.

DIY liquid rubber (not spray-on) is surely cheaper. The only "warranty" will be your work attitude, in this case. Liquid Rubber manufacturer covers only the product, not your skills :). Appears to be pretty straightforward though. I'll try this when time comes. I think I saw it on Amazon too.

You can buy EPDM or TPO by the foot.. Via ebay even.

What's your plan for the wood under the roof material?
1) Do nothing
2) Deck-over 1/8th
3) Replace it

Around here a roof job on a 37' RV is 8-10k.

As indicated above, I'd certainly consider a liquid roof (not necessarily spray on) - if the roof deck is good, it's a lot less expensive and carries a much better warranty.

There is no "rubber roof", and there is no "kit". Roof membrane can be either EPDM or TPO.

You can either replace the membrane or recoat it with liquid stuff.

Dozens of places to buy a roll of EPDM. As to the liquid coat - Liquid Rubber is popular. They also have Liquid RV Roof - same stuff with few bucks mark-up for those two letters "RV". Usual trick, name it RV-something or Marine and charge a double ๐Ÿ™‚

Don't know about Dicor liquid coating - it's just a brand after all. Likely same stuff.

If the rubber is in good shape, except for the white wearing off, re-coat it with Dicor EPDM Roof Acrylic Coating.

My 1998 SunnyBrook travel trailer roof had most of the black showing through about three years ago. I applied the above coating and it looked and performed like brand new.

Also, x2 on getting a spray on roof, except maybe for the weight. That should require no more roof maintenance.

I have replaced the rubber roof on a 22 FT trailer several years ago. I would contact roofing companies for material, as it will be the same as what an RV dealer can get. Also look on line. If roof does not have any tares you might consider a liquid rubber which would be a lot easier. I know, as I have done that on a second trailer.
If there are leaks, you will have to replace damaged deck wood or any structure too. I have also done that.
If you have more questions you can PM me and I will be glad to help.

Contact some of your local roofing supply companies. Many carry both TPO and EPDM materials, along with everything for installation. Its the same as used on low pitch and flat roof applications.

I'll just add that I was parked next to someone at a CG that wanted to replace their roof. They called an RV company and a mobile home company.

The materials are both the same. BUT the 'mobile home company' installed price was literally less than half the price the RV company quoted.

Just saying I would not have known that they do RV's and IMHO the price quoted trumped any and all ideas of my doing it myself. And they come out to where ever you are no need to take it in.
