Ok so some people are saying do not use silicone to coat the camper roof and around the vents. I was looking at the Henry products because someone told me it works great, but the product that the Henry people suggested was the 887 which is 100% silicone, another roofing product they have is 100% acrylic, can someone help me to get the right product to re-coat the roof and seal around the vents, with hopefully the same stuff Thanks Barry
I just recoated my 14 year EPDM roof with Heng's last summer. It was a straight forward, easy process that took about a day, after a couple days of cleaning and prepping of course. It made an immediate impact on cooling. Dunno how it's going to hold up, but it's a LOT cheaper than reroofing. And I would rather do this every year before I'd consider reroofing, which is expensive and a ton of work.
Why do you need to coat the roof surface? If is it deteriorating or damaged, you need to consider replacing it rather than putting on some coating that is likely to fail.
You need to read the fine print on any coating to make sure it will adhere to a EPDM roof. Many will not adhere. If in doubt call the manufacture. What I found was products that would not adhere, had an asterisk saying "If using on EPDM roofing you must also use this "prep coating". I used the Liquid Roof product last February on our 40' fiver.

I know I have used Henry 887 on other projects. The Pro Guard Coatings only lasted about 3 years on my 5th wheel. How long did you have the Henry 887 on yours?

Roof coating and roof sealant are 2 distinct products designed to address 2 distinct issues. Lap sealant such as Dicor self leveling lap sealant is designed to seal seams, expecting a roof coating to do the same is unrealistic. Seal any seams first, then coat the membrane itself.

Same here. It's been about 6 years and still looking good.

I used Liquid Roof on mine 4 years ago and it's held up great. I use Dicor's self-leveling lap sealant for touch ups around vents and other protrusions through the roof.

Since Dicor - and I guess others - make roll on coatings SPECIFICALLY for use on EPDM roofs, why would you screw around with something else that probably won't work as well, and may well fail for you causing even more problems?
