What did you do to your truck today?

I love cruising through the "what did you do to your camper today" thread, I figured I'd add a "what did you do to your truck today".

I'm sure that many of you are like me....and your truck that you use to haul your camper gets a lot of special attention to make sure it's in tip-top shape for your adventures.

I'll start out.....

Today I mounted 2 PIAA 520 Fog lights and 2 PIAA Driving lights to my winch bumper, and aimed them.

This evening, I received a box containing torklift stableload bumpstops. Those will have to wait for another day....we've got a blizzard going on here.

Do you have the latest V2 software in your Quadzilla? That's an absolute "must", it changes everything.
Mapping the fuel curve super easy with the new slider controls on the latest iQuad app update too.

Is the shudder the torque converter lockup clutch slipping? Mine did that (and then fried) when I had a stock transmission, and that was with smaller injectors and an Edge EZ tuner (mild).
You could also have a little too much timing advance in it. Back that off a degree or two and see if it smooths out.
The other possibility is fuel supply, if you have a stock lift pump it may not be supplying adequate fuel pressure for running a tuner. Those should all be ditched and replaced with either a Fass, AirDog, or a mechanical Fuel Boss lift pump setup. The VP44 injector pump doesn't live long unless it has plenty of fuel pressure coming into it.

Worked on my timing and fuel curves some more on the Quadzilla Adrenaline tuner.
Man this truck flies!

I couldn't help it... this morning headed to work, I pulled from a side street onto the state highway and the little import with the big wing and assorted junk on it behind me did the same, coming around me fast on the left as he did. Just for fun I hit the manual torque converter lockup, throttled up, and absolutely left him, up to about 60 where I backed off and just cruised.
I doubt Randy Road Racer is gonna tell any of his friends that Grampa in his camper hauler schooled him lol.
You never know when that Grampa happens to be an old hot rodder who made several, shall we say "alterations" under the hood of that old Dodge!

I have a Quadzilla as well and I have to work on the fuel curves because it gives me shudder right now. My truck is an '01 Dodge.

Put in a new Pacbrake compressor.

They don't mount them back toward the rear axle anymore (won't fit), so I had to create my own mounting bracket in the engine compartment and rerun all the air lines to the exhaust brake, the air bags and the aux air.

Fun. (not really) ha ha ha

I did this a few months ago, but now have the new Vision wheels and Continental HDR tires on. Makes a world of difference!

Replaced the upper control arms on both sides, now I need to get a front end alignment.
Strongly recommend you have an air hammer if you do this yourself. I broke two of the cam adjuster bolts.
The truck is 11 years old and the bolts were very corroded.

Nice work on the 6.0.

I chased down why my 4 way lights worked, but 7 way didn't with trailer brakes on my extension. Two wires were reversed. Fortunate I got it done. I had paid Camping World to fix it 2 weeks ago. Obviously, they didn't test it.

While everyone is just pulling their wonderful Truck Campers out for the summer months and casting off the bow lines to wonderful and soon to be shared, adventures, I am doing the exact opposite. I have pulled into my summer camp and will continue living completely off the grid for the next 5 months in the best of America's beautiful playgrounds.

While here I will be paddling into deepest darkest of the Northern Rockies, hiking some of the most spectacular trails, as well as getting some overnighting into one of the most remote locations in the continental United States. As well as ripping the trails with my Trek, KTM and BMW GSA-LC. Doing all of this while cooking under the stars and one day, an Eclipse. All, because I am blessed to be on my continuing Truck Camper Adventure.

Have fun everyone, this summer, as I will be casting off the Bow Lines come October.

Finally weighed it! Unloaded with almost full fuel and two people it weighed in at an even 8700 pounds. Much more than I thought it was going to for a SRW RAM 3500 MegaCab CTD shortbed. I'm guessing with the camper and loaded for a trip I'm going to be at 11,500+. We've been out twice with it all loaded and you can hardly tell the camper is on it with everything stock. I love this truck!

My 2006 SRW RAM 2500 MegaCab CTD shortbed with 4x4 and manual tranny weighs the same as yours. Mine has Superhitch, a front receiver hitch, overload springs, air bags and Hellwig BigWig sway bar as well as 19.5" Rickson steel wheels and Toyo 14 ply tires. (I don't carry a spare though)

Fully loaded with a 2012 Lance 855S camper, she weighs about 12,500 pounds. That includes fuel, water, everything!
