I love cruising through the "what did you do to your camper today" thread, I figured I'd add a "what did you do to your truck today".

I'm sure that many of you are like me....and your truck that you use to haul your camper gets a lot of special attention to make sure it's in tip-top shape for your adventures.

I'll start out.....


Today I mounted 2 PIAA 520 Fog lights and 2 PIAA Driving lights to my winch bumper, and aimed them.



This evening, I received a box containing torklift stableload bumpstops. Those will have to wait for another day....we've got a blizzard going on here.

Truck: 1999 F350,crewcab, dully, 7.3 w/automatic, fuel tank full (36-37 gal.).

Camper: 2000 Bigfoot 25c10.6, 1 battery, no propane tanks, 2500 generator and foam mattress. Other wise empty.

No driver.

10660 lbs.total. Front axle 4140 lbs. Rear axle 6520.

Max 11200 lbs on the door tag.

Thunked the blower motor for the hvac systems with the tire checking stick to get it unstuck again, because I'm a procrastionator on fixing small non-critical stuff when I have big ticket cost repairs coming up very shortly.

Got on the road for Ramblin' 2022 (my 17th year)! First stop at an RV Park in Gilroy, CA. This weekend I'll start a one week campout with my 2 kids in the beautiful E Sierra. After that TBD, but to heck with gas prices!!

Continued my search for the unicorn that is a replacement early 90s Ram Charger Gas tank and scheduled a front end overhaul with my brother for the Juneteenth weekend.

Next up will be new steer tires as the worn out ball joints have caused damage to the existing ones (The tires are all ten years or older, so replacing them was always on the docket).

I would imagine 87 gallons would get you where your headed, then some, and back again. It's a great job.

Yeah, I hear you. I put a pair of aftermarket short stroke on the front and rear. I have to go aftermarket because of the lowered truck. They are amazing.

I guess you don't know what you are missing if you don't do any mods.

I changed the oil and filter, again. LOL And rotated the tires.



I change it every 5000 miles and it usually still has 50% of the oil's life left.
My camper has been on the truck for the last 5000 miles so I'm guessing it shortened the oils life a bit.



I put new shocks on the truck too, 2nd time for shocks.
The first time I changed them was at 171,000 miles and I used Monroe Reflex shacks and they really didn't make much of an improvement over the original shocks.
This time I bought AC Delco shocks and spring assisted shocks for the rear.

I am amazed that at 235,000 miles the truck still isn't ready for new brakes.
When they are due they'll get replaced with factory SC Delco brakes.

Looking forward to my trip to Kanab tomorrow to see if the new shocks helped. ๐Ÿ™‚

What width rims are you running?

I have 6" width rims, but 245's will fit them. About 1900 RPM in 6th gear at 65 mph and 2300 RPM in 5th gear. At 17.5k lbs GVW, I did not feel a loss in power. I won't have my trailer in tow until December to know how it feels with an additional 7k lb load.

Pulled off the outer dually wheels. Taking them to the shop for new rubber before we take off on a 5000 mile trip in two weeks (already put new tires on the inners)
