29 ft trailer comes w/13500 air. Do dealers upgrade for the same as factory pricing? will they even consider the option.
Not sure if the smaller unit will cool in 100+ degrees summer heat
thanks for advanced input..

My 13.5 works flawlessly in all conditions including the mid 90โ€™s and above into the 3 digit heatโ€ฆ if most of my camping was in those high temps I would get the 15โ€ฆ but I can say with confidence to big is not better or more comfortable than to smallโ€ฆ
In my 20 trailer the 13.5 was very uncomfortableโ€ฆ it was like sitting in a wind tunnel and cooled the temps very quickly, to quicklyโ€ฆ but wouldnโ€™t run long enough to remove the humidityโ€ฆ the cool camper with the high humidity was never comfortable and the cooler you made it the worse it gotโ€ฆ

I can't speak for everybody else, but I can speak of us. Ours is a 13.5 and it kept up acceptably in Vegas at 100+ temps. It may have something to do with level of insulation rather than just plain size of unit. It got up to almost 120 during the day and we never had truly "cold" water, just from the hose exposed to the heat. Even if you let it run and run, it was still warm. But, the AC seemed to keep us comfortable in spite of the ambient temps. We've been in 100 degree + , and humid here at home, and I have no complaints so far.

We have a 29' Rockwood and the 15K a/c does NOT keep up in the summer in the SW desert after a day of driving. A 13.5 would be out of the question for us. We are looking at a Roamer for our next TT sometime next year; one of the selling points is improved ventilation coupled with 50 amp service and prewired for a second a/c. I guess it really boils down (so to speak) to where you plan to go in the summer.

Go with the 15K. Some of the newer units are******and may not even be cooling as much as there advertised. Get the bigger one right away.

I you really want "more cool" add a 2nd unit.

I would suggest the same, but most likely a 30' TT only has 30 amp service and that will not run 2 units.

I agree. One often overlooked option is the high efficiency 13.5 K units that Coleman and Dometic offer. These units draw 4 A less than a standard 13.5 K unit. Coleman claims their Power Saver has greater cooling capacity than their standard unit. You could actually run two high efficiency 13.5 units for about 22 A.

Go for the 15,000. My 35' trailer has a 15,000 and sometimes it just barely keeps up.

Hi,

Simply run a 2nd auxiliary shore power cord for only the 2nd air conditioner--or add a 7000 btu unit--which would run just fine on 30 amps with a 13500.

The nice thing is the cord can be used for extra heaters in the winter time.

Another vote for the 15K BTU AC unit on a 30 footer.

If you have a lot of windows, the solar effect works well in a camper...

I have a 28 ft tt with a big slide and the 13,500 on mine is sufficient and the warmest weather i have been in was Vegas at 111. I could see it not cutting it where the humidity is high which is where most of the responses have been from. If your staying in the west i think you will be fine.

My TT is only 26' long and a 13500 cant keep up when it's over 103 degrees. If there's any way to get the bigger unit then I would go for it.

I can tell you that my 32' TT with 2 slides needed more than a 13,500 AC here in Louisiana. When there was no shade and it was about 100 degrees, we just hoped we could keep it under about 85 even with the windows covered. I would definitely opt for the 15K AC even if there's some extra cost. Good luck.
