2007 ram 2500 4x4 durability

Hello Guys, I am looking at a 2007 ram 2500 4x4 with a 5.7 and auto trans. Truck looks good but has 227000 miles on it. It is a one owner N.C truck. Price is high at 11900 I think. How durable is the Hemi engine and the auto trans? Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks to all for your help. I have contacted the dealership and told them that I had to pass because of the miles. The search continues.

Keep looking,you will find a truck with a lot fewer miles for the same money.

My main concern on this truck is having to replace a engine or trans right after I bought it. From the photos of the truck it looks solid except for a small worn place on the drivers seat. If I am correct the hemi uses the same axles as the diesel in the 2500 so they shouldn't have been under as much stress with the lower torque engine.

Pretty close. The Hemi powered trucks used to use a 10.5" rear axle in the 2500, but now (since 2014) they use the same 11.5" axle.

Any way you look at it, them are some SERIOUS miles on that truck. I personally would look at a vehicle that has at least half of that milage on it. Do an internet search, AZ would be a good place to start.

man, that was the main reason I didn't buy a RAM diesel p/u as my latest TV...prices are high..and I think the '07 and before are better because they don't have the tricky emissions on them..

Hello

Is there a maintenance history available? Any time you buy used there will be a suitability issue. I put 288,000 miles on my 96 Ram and spent 4,500 to rebuild the V-10 that was in it. I know the history of this truck.

Not really on the friends or relatives. This truck is near Charlotte 100 miles from me so it supposedly doesn't have any rust issues.

I sounds like you live by me ๐Ÿ™‚ Rust buckets or very expensive.

I ended up traveling quite a distance to buy my 5th hauler.

To you have any friends / relatives in other states that can look for you ?

That is a thought that I have looked into. Diesels are very expensive around here with lower mileage. For example I found a 1999 Ram 2500 quad cab 5.9 diesel with 88000 miles. Pretty nice truck. Asking price 20000 and truck sold within 2 weeks. I really don't need a diesel for what I pull. I have looked at a f250 with a v10 but it had some rust issues.

Use this formula to figure the ratings for both the trailer and TV

GCWR => TV + Trailer (actual weights of both TV & Trailer)

Most will be limited by the TV's RGAWR & cargo capacity after everything is loaded
into/onto (people, pets, firewood, ice chest, etc) left for the tongue & hitch
