2011 - 2014 6.7 Powerstroke PCM update. Did You?

Have you done the update and, if so, are you satisfied? Heard both opinions. Some say if your truck runs well without not to get the update as the update has caused some mileage and drivability issues. Some say that the update worked well.

Mines been normal for the last 3 weeks since update. Skyhammer, I live in Windsor north of Santa Rosa. Diesels get a OBD2 interrogation and mod inspection plus a snap throttle smoke test. 8 miles north they don't even test cars.

I don't know where you live, but in my part of N.Calif. We don't have smog checks.

My 2013 was done last Feb. No problems at all. No impact on mpg or DEF mileage that I can see. I do concur with Lumpty about the trans shifting smoother. The other thing I noticed is that it seems to run a little better when cold, especially when in first gear.

Had it done a few months ago. It changed lots of things under PCM/ECU control. I'd just say it drives "different". Mileage is pretty much the same. The two really noticeable drivability items from the reflash are that at highway speeds, it is much quicker to downshift out of 6th instead of building boost and torque to increase speed if throttle is slowly applied; the other is that the transmission has much softer shifts. Not old E4OD mushy, but enough that even my wife noticed the difference when she drove it.

I also had the DEF massage "800 miles to empty" and mine also only took 2 gal. Other than that no issues at all to include mileage.

I'm curious, since you don't own one of these trucks, why this is a big concern for you?

Anyone know if this software/firmware update will then mess up tuners?

What about other after market add ons that has a software/firmware component ?

Heck, can even see after market stuff without software/firmware and just not
on the listing of the new software/firmware...

Anyone remember the days when they bought a new HDD/etc for their
computer...to find that it is NOT supported by their OS and/or it's rev level?

That still happens today...

My biggest concern would be that it doesn't 'break' it right away, but
under certain conditions...it might act up...or go into limp mode...or
stop the vehicle or kill a component on the spot...

I had it done, noticed no difference in anything.
Now I have to hold on to the emissions card the dealer gave me and send it in when the registration is due or it will not be renewed.
