Yesterday the local Chevy dealer here in Iowa where I am working called me. He had finally been able to get an actual price on a diesel equipped Colorado. He priced out exactly what I wanted on the truck...Crew Cab SB 4x4 with only the diesel package and heated seats. It is interesting though that the block heater is optional...so I added that $70.00 option as well...
Sticker price was $39,070.00. They will sell it for $37,500.00 plus tax.GM is dropping the ball on the way they force you to order a truck with packages that drive the cost up with options you would not order but must purchase if you want the diesel. These are packages above and beyond what is included in the diesel option.
I did not order the truck. When Deb was out here two weeks ago, we talked about her transportation needs. Her truck is no longer reliable enough for me to feel comfortable with her at home and me working 750 miles away. We decided to look at used SUV's. They are high enough to give her the visibility she wants and she really never uses her pickup as a pickup anymore...so...
We bought a low mileage 2010 Subaru Outback Limited...for less than 30% of the cost of the Colorado. I will drive it between the two jobs I am building (75 miles apart) until mid October. She will fly out here one way and drive it home...
I have been driving the Subaru Outback for the last ten days or so and I am very impressed with the SUV.Excellent fuel mileage and very comfortable...and my DuraMax is not being driven 150 to 200 miles a day as a basic transporter.
