2016 Ram 2500 stuck in 4th gear

Happened to me a couple days ago. Happened to a freinds truck. The dealer had the part there to fix another one and used it on mine because we were from out of town. Anyone else ? Seems common. Solenoid pack was the problem.

I had a 2004 Dodge Cummins with a 48RE.
If you left it in tow/haul it would stay in 3rd.
Check your tow;haul button and your owners manual.
It may be some thing simple.
Good luck.

The 68RFE is no different than the Ford or GM transmissions when you add a tuner box to the truck. They all will fail if pushed past there intended limits.

True... but some just have higher intended limits than others.

No problem here, but just run it in fourth, just a few more RPM's :B

That is the number one reason GM couldn't add anymore HP/TQ to their trucks, the Ally they use (Allison 1000) was at it's limit. They fixed that for the 2017 MY though.

Never heard of that before? The 68RFE has been extremely reliable with narry a complaint.

I would say extremely reliable is a bit of a stretch for the 68. My cousin makes a good living because of them.

OP,
I would go to the cumminsforum and ask in the 4th gen powertrain forum. There's a guy that goes by "trans engineer" that's really good. I'm certain he can answer your question.

And I would bet that 90%+ did not have a stock engine in front of the 68RFE!

Is it a diesel with 68rfe or gas with 66rfe?

I've also never heard of this that I can remember. I think you may have been struck twice by lightening 🙂

Never heard that either.
You might post on one of the Ram/Cummins forums to find out more.
