2017 host Mammoth triple slide

Anyone own one or know about there quality? Thinking of taking a trip to truck camper warehouse to look,4.5 hrs away.

If you go with that big Mammoth have them set it up so that if you forget to put in the slides they automatically go in when you release the parking brake.

Idea from Sooty1234. a very smart camper guy.

Personally, I would not enjoy something that large, and those slides aren't that warm in winter. something to consider.

He's over 6,000 lbs if he's loaded. Not sure what type of trailer he would pull either. There probably is more payload with the newer year 3500 dually. I didn't use bags, just the Torklift products and a Hellwig sway bar for the back. It seemed to handle ok but I never saw pulling anything else.
My heaviest time over scales was 6,400 lbs. at the end of this summer. My truck is resting now.

I'm hauling mine on a 2005 f350. I'm not liking the feel of the airbag ride. Looking at trying some super springs soon.

I saw my 1st Mammoth Host (mounted on a truck) today. The owner was kind enough to pull over and answer some of my questions. He stated that the camper is 4500 lbs dry and that his 2012 GMC 3500 has no problems hauling it, including the trip down the mountain from Telluride, CO where he purchased it. The only mods he uses are airbags. He also told me that he occasionally tows a trailer behind it, without issue.

I followed him about 1/4 mile until he could pull over (even had to go over a speed bump), it seemed very stable on the truck. This camper is sweet. And Huge. 🙂

The campers are getting heavy enough that a 10k lb axle is taxed. There are plenty of lighter campers, but there are about a half dozen which are heavy enough to overload you when towing if you load them on a Class 3 DRW.

Either way I didn't expect this kind of anger and hostility, I have better things to do and I wouldn't want to be responsible for someone getting upset and having a stroke.

Says the guy with an 1150 AF......trying to say how light weight and svelt a triple slide 11' TC will be.
By the way, you were already at 5600lbs in your previous post. And probably not off on the dry weight.
Guess you could keep one around 5500lbs if you pack light and only go on weekend trips.
Make sure you leave everything at home except a change of skivves, preferably ones that aren't in a knot, and some ramen noodles.
And don't ask me or bedlam to borrow a socket set, bottle jack, bottle of beer or fishing pole because you left yours at home to keep your camper at 5500lbs. Hahah

My deck height is 41" tall with my Arctic Fox loaded and trailer unhitched. I should be about 13' tall with the Host. Your Chalet is about 1/2 foot taller than the Host.

Geo thanks for camera source suggestion. Taking a trip this week to look at Host at TCW they have 3 on the lot. One more trip with truck camper before winterizing.

Every unit has the weight sticker. It's by the door. It shows base wight and what the unit weighs with the options on that unit. Again Randell told me most are leaving the factory at 4300 to 4750. The 3 I looked at were all in that range. All had 3 slide outs and 2 had the gen set.

Take that weight and add batteries, LPG and fresh water to get an empty wet weight in the 5000-5500 lb range. Now add your tools, clothes, gear, food, passengers and pets to this subtotal. If you are towing a trailer, also add its tongue weight to your projected payload. This is why it is easy to get in 6000+ lb range when you add it all up.

I never called Randall a liar about the weight, but that is not the only thing that is going to be part of the payload.

Bedlam isn't a salesman... that's the difference, I believe, that was being emphasized. Just good, useful, food for thought. Based on experience and reality.
