Just a reminder that the LP/CO detectors in our campers need to be replaced occasionally...

Glad the occupant appears to have come through relatively unscathed. Though I suspect he's likely to be hearing impaired for a little while at least.

When I looked at the picture, I thought something similar. I bet his bed was wet too! LMAO!

He had a fire extinguisher. It's a few feet from it's original location though.

I just replaced the LP Gas and Carbon Monoxide sensors in my Motor home. I will check the one in my TC.

I'm glad to hear that the owner didn't get seriously hurt. Wow!

Additional story.

The picture that they use in the article is just a little off.

Fiberglass body, the weak point is the joints on the side where they join the top and bottom. I thought that it would have separated there as well. It did split on the left side at the seam.

All this is speculation so I may as well jump in as well.

Looking at the location of the camper in the parking lot (away from the store), as well as the motor home next to it, it looks like the person was camping. It looks like it is early in the evening (by the parking lot lights being on and the fact that someone was at a Starbucks so more than likely at night - yah a guess). So could have been ignited by the furnace being turned on or cycling. Gas build up could be from a stove being slightly on or a leak around the furnace (the hot water tank and fridge is around there as well). Also seeing that the camper is split close to the right side, that would be where the furnace is located (at least in my NL that has the same layout). Could have been a leak in that side and the propane was trapped in the closet, build in area around it.

There that is my 2 cents. I would really like to know what happened.

On edit: I was wrong on the time as it happened at 5:30am.

Likely a leaking stove as there obviously was very little LP that did this. I saw one of these explode when in Joshua Tree about 1972. Same thing.. Short boom, blew the sides out and the occupant walked out with a headache. Zero flame.
