Spring seems to have struck Alaska. 60F outside today, snow's melting on the river. Hopefully we'll get a another hard freeze real quick before April to kill off the mosquitos....otherwise it's going to be a bad year for mosquitos!

Kodiak has no snow at sea level, but some on the mountains. So e ice still in the bays, but meling fast. We actually split firewood in t shirts last Saturday. Got 3 cord split and stacked. Loaded the Avion on the truck, and if the weather holds, will take the kids camping Friday! Momma will be out if town, so the kids and I plan to take the camper out the road to a BLM dry camp on the beach, and enjoy the weekend. If we do get out, I'll try to get. Trip report out!

Spring us definitely early this year, but I guarantee we will have snow at least one more time, since in 7 years we havnt had a spring break yet without snow....

After this winter in Canada, I will be glad to see the mosquito's. No sign of spring yet!

You got that right., hahaha. It's +7* F out right now and bright sunny blue skies. We've been seeing mid 20's and close to 30 the past couple days. Breakup is right around the corner and so is Arctic Man:C
It has been amusing though reading about people complaining about winter and being couped up in the house in the lower 48....it's been winter since October up here!

Beautiful picture AKSuperDually! I love snow, but this mild winter hasn't been too bad...maybe I'm just getting old and appreciate the sun a little more. I put my snowmachine (snowmobile for you lower 48'ers) away today, and installed my new HD Timbren SES's. Got a call this past week saying my Fox Landing and rear and passenger side awnings are here too. Now about those mosquito's....kill'm all!!!

It's -34C (-29F) here in Regina Saskatchewan. With the windchill it's -42 (-43F). Forecast for the week shows -3C (26F) for next Sunday. I can see the trap door on the long underwear opening next week to once again air things out.

Ah...but it's a dry cold (smile). I have had the opportunity to visit Regina on business in the dead of winter...brutal. I once watched a man try to cut steel scrap with a high pressure ox/fuel gas torch during a storm in January. The flame exited the torch tip and went sideways. I went back into the office after about 10 minutes, intent on waiting until April to finish the job.

When we moved back to Alaska last year, we picked this spot for a reason. lol. My little brother lives in Fairbanks. I don't like to visit in the summer or winter. To put the distance in perspective for outsiders, Fairbanks is 500 miles North of us. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Hang in there though....soon you'll have your 90+ weather. :C

We have another major snow storm coming our way and, we're headed back to single digit temps.

What's wrong with this picture :@

I hope you get your freeze and eliminate some of the mosquitos.

Enjoy your travels.

Spring better be here in 16 days!!!!!
