I've been looking for info on actual experience towing with this new engine, and can't find much out there yet??

I've read all kinds of speculation on how it should be, but little real word experience.

Yes, I know the grill is butt ugly, but I can't see it from the drivers seat ๐Ÿ™‚

I found this video tonight. Guy bought a 6.0 and was not happy with it pulling 8000lb tt over a pass in CO, and traded for the 2020 gasser, and pulled the same pass.

There was something wrong with his old truck. He even mentioned having to pull off because it was getting hot.

I agree, I have pulled 2.5 times that much weight to 8K' and never had to pull over. It never got hot.

Just looking at the number of gears in the transmission (manual or automatic) is out of context...but having more gear sets allows the tranny to find the best gear for any situation

The differential ratio, tire revโ€™s per mile and the biggie...the ICEโ€™s torque/HP curve

Toss in how that vehicle will be used, as is the vehicles spec (actual weight, GVWR, etc)

True. Time will tell how the competition performs in comparable challenges. Its good to have the new gasser choices from all and give the diesel choice a higher scrutiny as to its immediate price increase and long term maint/post warranty repair exposure. Must be a reason why UPS has almost abandoned diesel in the mid duty fleet.

Heโ€™s claiming 9 MPG pulling a 8000 pound trailer over Rabbit Ears Pass?

The trailer stated in the video is a 2019 Cougar 22rbs I would find it hard to believe its 8k which is over the trailers GVWR...its prob somewhere around 7k....I also find it hard to to believe getting 9mpg running at 4500rpms at 50mph

9 mpg was an average after traveling over the pass, not up the pass.

Impressive pull.... Now Chevy needs to dump that hideous front end and put a good looking one and it would be a good truck

The HDs are starting to grow on me, the Custom trim level specifically. Now the 1500s, I don't think I will ever like those.

Putting 10-ply tires on half ton trucks since aught-four.

I am surprised the initial release is still a 6spd. Initial response for the 2500 Ram and the ZF 8speed are positive. Especially with 4.10 gears. Ford is next with a 10spd. Heck even Nissan XD is now a 9 spd for the 2020 model. Dissapointing launch for GM.

Not many videos out there on YouTube just yet. Looking forward to seeing the test as well. Like others stated some said that the power wasnโ€™t so noticeable but then again they just got done driving the diesel counterpart and seemed to compare the new gas job to the diesel... so apples to oranges on that one... regardless it will be a great runner.... give it time and aftermarket programmers will really wake it up! Also on a side note, watched a few videos this am on the EPA cracking down on the deleted diesel trucks.... interesting but it was a matter of time since โ€œrolling coalโ€ became so popular......
Forgot to add, the new GMC has caught my eye for sure... pocket book not so much... lol also not dogging the diesel trucks... those videos came up in my suggested watch... hence I had to watch those since a few friends has the deleted trucks...
A truck, a camper, a few toys, but most importantly a wonderful family.
