Bahn Camper works

This looks promising. It's a new composite shell/truck camper. Appears to be nicely made and pretty light weight. Looks like the web site has only been up for 4 days so it's pretty thin on details right now, but I like what I see so far.

I like it, but... it needs to be about $40,000 less. There's far more technology and cost of manufacture in a $20,000 new car than there is in that camper.

I actually like the type of camper it is, the weight, and the rear doors, seamless construction, and some other features (still has many leak points due to the thru roof items, windows, and doors) so it's far from leak free. At a reasonable selling price could sure be a big seller for half ton trucks alone at $16,000 to $20,000 for the shell only and perhaps $25,000 to $28,000 with the interior shown. BUT, at $39,000 for the shell only or $56,000 with the interior shown has to be one huge joke as it's beyond insanity!

Some new Class "C" RV's which include the total motorized chassis, much larger appliance components, and the finished ready to travel and camp coach cost about the same and this Bahn camper is really only a simple slide in unit with NO chassis included and a quite simple/basic inside with very small appliance etc components. I wish Bahn lots of luck as they are certainly going to NEED it+!

It looks like they've only got that one model right now, and only the prototype of that model to display and photograph.

Notice that most interior pictures are of a TC that has no bathroom area, thus it looks a lot more spacious and roomy than a TC would normally appear in an ad.

I would have liked to see several interior shots of different models.

Yeah, I couldn't find the price when I was looking. That's a lot but I'm sure there will be some takers from the Overlanding crowd. I have to agree that this business model doesn't usually work though.

$56,000+, though! You can buy a Host Mammoth for that kind of cake.

I really want to see companies like this succeed, but I've also seen this business model fail time and again. A niche product in a niche market at an ultra-premium price never works. Very few people will pay a huge price premium for a spartan camper even if it is "bulletproof" "maintenance-free" and lightweight. They would rather buy a cheap Palomino.
