Bought My Ram 2500 6.7 Today. Thanks!

Thanks to everyone who answered all of my posts this past week.

Picked up my Ram 2500 4x4 Gas this afternoon.

Got the best price (below invoice) and they also agreed to throw in the running boards. We had gone to at least 5 Ram dealers in the area.

Has the 5th wheel/goose neck set up ready, towing mirrors (almost had forgot about that item), 8 ft bed, plow set up (if I ever need that) and back up camera...etc

Traded in my 2005 F250 diesel (6.0) for 12 grand so I was happy with that.

I hae another post out there now asking about a reliable 5th wheel. Sold my tt this past spring and want to travel cross country after my looming retirement. Bottom line is I have nothing yet but a new truck that will tow just about anything 🙂

The GVWR difference is a head scratcher for sure especially since the RAWR is the same. It is nice though to see a truck maker go back to giving the buyer more than one gas engine option in a 2500/3500 series truck. Back in the day all of the OEMs offered a full line of engines from a little inline six all the way up to a big block V8.

Still gotta wonder why Ram felt the 6.4 should have the extra 900++ lbs. of payload vs. the 5.7 gasser and 6.7 diesel.

The 2500 5.7 Hemi has a 9000 GVWR.

The 2500 6.4 Hemi has a 10000 GVWR.

The truck mfg figure payloads by using the trucks GVWR which makes this one easy to see.

The 2500 5.7 or 6.4 or 6.7 rear axles are all still rated at 6000 RAWR regardless of suspension type or engine type so they have nothing to do with the difference in the the mfg payload numbers mentioned.

Congrats on your new truck. I still consider 8' a standard bed. You will enjoy the room, especially if you haul an ATV for fun. Does it have that really nice exhaust sound?

I drove the 5.7 twice while trying out different vehicles. There was a big difference when compared to the 6.4. More punch and felt tighter (probably psychological), but the price was right (almost the same as a 5.7) and the dealer (Falls Dodge in Cuyahoga Falls, Oh) gave me deal that I could not find at the other 4-5 dealers we went to. The others had one or two 6.4's in stock but were at the high end.

Congrats on the new truck, certainly sounds like it will be a nice one! Please keep us tuned to how it works for you! I don't know too much about that 6.4 but it sure sounds like a winner. I especially liked to hear how it reaches max torque almost 1000 RPM's lower than most other gassers. I'd think that would lead to some higher mpg's towing!

Beautiful truck. Looks like there is plenty of room in that cab and that 6.4 liter Hemi V8 has plenty of punch.
