Burbman Crosses over to the Dark Side....

The Burb has been a trusty TV for many years but sadly she won't carry our truck camper. After launching a nationwide search I was lucky to find our new truck just a few hours away in NJ.

Wasn't looking for a diesel initially but hey, it's never too late to try something new!

This was a one-owner truck, bought, serviced, and traded in at the same dealer in NJ. 81k miles. Not a speck of rust underneath, not even surface rust on the frame. Clean Carfax, no accidents, no title issues. No signs of mods except the oversized tires and tinted windows (dealer removed tint so I could pass inspection).

So here is our new-to-us 2015 Ram 3500 4x4 Laramie Crew Cab Long Box with Cummins diesel. Here is the window sticker from when it was new.

So I guess it's time to sell the Burb. They are super rare to find with the 8.1 anymore.

the BIG question is what to do about my screen name here....LOL

Our camper is only 3000 *wet weight*, so we should have plenty of headroom for me, DW, dog, a few cases of suds, and maybe some food.....LOL

One thing I am finding about Lance is that they are well made, and the camper came with a sticker certifying its weight.

If it had came with factory side steps that number would have been lower.

Yea, our 2016 Laramie 3500 DRW lost 269# from base as it has 5er prep, side steps and a sun/moon roof.

Don't you have a longbed? The 4,480 rating is for the shortbed. I think you might have more payload, at least according to that chart.

The chart he posted is for the long box. The short box for basic truck is 4070 for the 68RFE. Being a Laramie, buckets, etc etc. his will NOT be the 4480 in the chart.

Chart for my 4x4 SB CC Aisin/HO is 4020. It is a Laramie, buckets, etc etc, door sticker is 3664. That is why I said his door jam number will be around 4K +/-. Chris

Payload is 4,480 lbs. Camper weighs 3017 "wet" as weighed from the factory, so once loaded up we should be right at or just under GVWR. Surprised that the 68RFE has a higher payload and tow arting than the Aisin.

Also interesting how the GVWR magically jumps up 900 lbs with the Cummins to keep the payload ratings the same.

The reason for that is the Aisin weighs more. Your sticker is about $7,000 less than our 2016 DRW Aisin 3500.

Bottom line go by RAWR as in tire ratings. AISIN simply weighs more and it is a more capable trans as it's used in many MD applications. The 68 is a good trans also! Look at the comparison of the trans in the DRW application.

Stick to quality filters!!!!!!! MOPAR, FleetGuard and RACOR.

Or one could be polite and not ask "What'd it cost ya?"

It's in poor taste, even on the internet...

Don't you have a longbed? The 4,480 rating is for the shortbed. I think you might have more payload, at least according to that chart.

Also, I think the GVWR shows that the weakest link in that entire system is the gas engine, not the frame, wheels, tires, brakes, suspension, etc. Everything else is the same, but the CTD is rated for more weight.
