Bye bye, diesel, hello ecoBoost

Well, things change as you all know, and we decided to forego a fifth wheel, and keep the TT for a few more years, then probably get a motorhome. So, no need to keep the diesel. Don't get me wrong, I loved it! But I just retired, and am going to sell the commuter car, and use the new truck as my daily driver. DW will be working for another three years. Ok, here's the details; certified pre-owned 2016 F150 XLT, only 13k miles on the clock. Scab with 6 1/2 foot box, 3.5 ecoboost, 3:55 gears, 6 psd trans, max tow pkg. payload is 1843 lbs, GVWR is 7050. Can't wait to tow our Jayco with it, I'm sure it'll do fine. TT GVWR is 7600. Here she is-

Congratulations on your new ECO ! Ours pulled our similar sized TT with comfort, power, quietness, and relaxing driving ! Thought aboutselling it after we purchased our C, but it is such a nice truck we kept it. The 6.5 foot bed can sometimes be a PIA finding parking in downtown areas !

Good truck....good choice !

Very nice truck and got to love those mirrors.

Yep! My 2008 F250 has the big ugly Ford towing mirrors.... and I love them! The mirrors on nohurry's truck look like they might be bigger then mine. Are they power mirrors? I've come to regard them as almost needed, as opposed to an option.

Nice truck! I replaced my aging SUV with a 2018 supercrew with the 3.5 eb max tow. I haven't towed the camper with it yet (currently under a foot of snow) but can't wait! The truck is also an excellent daily driver. Love the magnetic color...but I might be biased.:)

We kinda did a similar thing when we retired.

We decided not to get a 5th wheel and get a new couple's TT.
Our new home didn't have the room to drive a big truck to the front door.

So I got a former lease 2014 4x4 Ecoboost CC SB with similar payload and Max Tow package.

We're currently near the end of our 7 week Find the Sun tour.
The truck is amazing and a pleasure to drive.

We're both very happy with it.

Good for you. The right tool for the job is what matters. Sure you can tow a popup with a 1-ton, but it makes no sense. Fit the truck to the towing load and you're happy all the way around.

Thanks all, and yeah Fish, that's what stunned me when looking at new, and used Eco trucks that are supposed to be set up for towing. Most of them had small mirrors that don't extend. Of course, salespeople are clueless. My 6.7 f350 was paid off, so i was very happy to find this almost new one at a price that had the dealer cutting me a check for the difference in value! It only had 22k on it, and they were drooling all over it when I pulled in. I'm happy, and they'll make money on it, so a good deal all around.

Congrats, nice looking truck, with great tow pkg. Same gray as wife's Escape, rich color, and easy to keep clean.
