What are some good beach RV parks near Destin or the western end of Florida? I saw the one called Camp Gulf which is very nice and also expensive. Don't mind a little walk.

There are so many great RV parks in North Florida along the beaches but Topsail Hill and Henderson beach state parks are our favorites. They are always packed so make your reservations way in advance. I already have mine made through Apr. 2016. ๐Ÿ™‚

If you can expand your geography a bit, Gulf State Parkin Gulf Shores, Alabama is wonderful. Gulf Shores is right on the Florida/Alabama state line.

If the Blue Angels are practicing in Pensacola, it is not to be missed - and free! Check out their schedule here.

And we 2nd the recommendation about St George Island State Park.
Cheers! Jan & David

We stayed at Destin West RV Resort this spring and loved it. It's between Destin and Fort Walton Beach.

It's a minor point but Ft. Pickens is a national park and not a state park.

I second Ft Pickens. It's was our favorite place to tent camp and now can't wait to try it in our TT next month.

Fort Pickens State Park.... Great family park and great views...
If you can stay in military sites, checkout Blue Angel or Oak Grove. Oak Grove is located on NAS Pensacola and Blue Angel is located on HWY 98 just before you reach the Lillian bridge....

All the state parks that have been mentioned are all nice. We really like Grayton Beach ,Henderson Beach. Big Laggon is a nice park like others have said. The beach area is nice and Johnson beach is across the Laggon and about 2 miles to the west and turn o the entrance to Johnson beach it is part of Gulf Island national seashore. Also right down the road from big Laggon is Pensacola NAS that has a very good musem that is free

We don't generally like state parks so we steer more toward the private resorts. Both of these are good resorts. Not directly on the water but right across the street from the beach. Full hook ups and all the amenities including a pool. Probably not the cheapest place around.

I've stayed at Big Lagoon State Park. Most of the campsites are fairly private with trees around. There is a small beach on the lagoon/bay in the park. It is a short drive (2-3 miles) to Perdido Key beach area. It's about as far west in Florida that you can go....

Nice park, not expensive.

St. Rosa Sound RV Resort. About a mile from the beach in Navarre, but a lot of the sites are waterfront due to it being on the St. Rosa Sound.

My husband and I camp frequently in north Florida. Do you require full hook ups? If so, go with Topsail Reserve State Park. It used to be a private park, but is now state owned. It's pricier than other state parks in the area, b/c of its many amenities and full hook ups. You can't drive to the beach there; instead, frequently running trams take you there, or you can ride your bikes. Grayton Beach does have one loop with full hook ups, but the sites are in full sun. The other loop, which we prefer, is more natural and has several shaded sites, but no sewer.

If you don't require sewer hook up, I'd recommend Henderson Beach SP. This park fills up FAST - make reservations 11 months in advance to make sure you get in.

If Panama City Beach, east of Destin, is okay, Saint Andrews SP is lovely; it's between St. Andrews Bay and the Gulf. Some sites are waterfront on the bay side. If you don't mind going further west of Destin, then Ft. Pickens is nice, but sites are not shaded after a hurricane took out most of the trees years ago.

If you like more remote campgrounds, look at St. George SP or St. Joseph Peninsula SP. They are in areas that aren't as built up as the other parks I mentioned.

Which ever one you decide on, be sure to reserve a site well in advance!

Don't need a resort. Just a nice comfy campsite very close to beach.

St. George Island SP is a great park...........depending on the time of year you visit. Was there a couple years back in mid August. Thank God the trailer we had at the time had 2 AC units, and I had plenty of Off! foggers. :E That aside, it is a truly lovely park with a beautiful beach which is a very short drive from the campground area.
