My daughter was getting a little warm in her bunk during our last camping trip, so I decided to put her a fan in to keep the air flowing.

I had been wanting to add a 12-volt fan to the main living area anyway, so I decided to tackle both jobs today. A trip to Wal-Mart for two fans($8.48 each) and we're halfway there.

She picked the spot, and I got to work -

I picked up the power from her overhead light. All I have left is to install a short piece of wire cover and I'm done -

I added one in the main area -

I dropped by Lowe's and found this cool soap dispenser. I also just installed these Pop-a-Toothbrush holders -

I added a sopa dispenser to the kitchen area as well. I also installed a Pop-a-Napkin under the radio -

Here's an easy mod. I found this over the door towel rack at Walmart and it works great -

Iowassfan,

Hmm, does "5% tint" mean that it lets only 5% of the light in, or that it only blocks 5% of the light? If it only lets in %5, then it blocks 95%.

In the picture it looks like it is blocking 95% of the light rather than 5%.

After our last couple camping trips with the early morning sunrise waking us and the kiddo up bright and early I decided to tint the windows. Then after hearing the estimates from local shops for 4-500 hundred dollars minimum, I decided to tackle the project myself. They are not perfect but they get the job done. Top window shows what they looked like factory. The bottom window is tinted with 5% tint. I have six windows and used just over three boxes of tint from walmart bringing the grand total to just over $30.

Nice job ShadySkins. It is always interesting to see where the manufacturers put the switches.
We got real lucky with our new TT as all the switches are located behind a cork board that opens up like a door so they are all hidden.
Respect,
Brent

My take on the slide switch mod from goingnorth.

I used a pair of snips and trimmed the excess plastic from around the switch face in order for the cover to fit over the entire switch. For a better fit, I put the switch face back over the switch after the switch cover was installed.

Once I dry fitted the cover over the switch the slide began moving. Crap! The inside of the cover is very narrow and is just hitting the switch.

Solution - The switch covers are for outdoor use and come with a piece of foam that can be placed between the cover and the wall. This piece of foam provided the perfect amount of clearance to keep the switch from engaging when the cover is closed.

All Finished. Thanks goingnorth! ** I tried this mod for the awning switch as well - but the switch shape and size will not allow for it. As you can see in my last picture it is located underneath the bottom of my upper cabinets, just above the sink. I don't let anyone touch the lights except me as the way it is laid out there is to big of a chance for the wrong button to be pressed.

Some where in this thread was a post with a link to a mod and photos about a jack stabilization system using conduit and panel clamps for the cross bracing, but I cant seem to find it using the search engine. Anyone know the link??

I contemplated getting LED strips of different color and locating them in the same location, using which ever one for mood, similar to my hot tub lighting. That thought lasted about 2 seconds though. 😉

I actually bought 4 white strips, two are going in my storage area for lighting with pressure sensitive switches attached to where when you open the storage door, the lights will illuminate. One is going just under the stairs for safety with a light switch just inside the door. The fourth in going to where the black/gray valves are with a switch, switch location not decided yet.

I've got everything waiting to get installed...now I just need the time to do it.

I ordered a bunch of those lights but I have been on vacation for a week & have a couple more to go. When I get home I will put them on & post a pic. I got the white light version. The colored ones were a bit to much for my taste. I am going to see if I can rig up a dimmer for them so I can adjust the light as needed. I am also going to experiment with adding them to my awning. They are so small I could roll them right up and never remove them.

OOOOOOO....mood lighting....

On second thought, I couldn't have a rave with dimmed lights... maybe a strobe effect would work better! Pass the glow sticks please!

Sorry to hear that Doug, My wife loves em and we can't wait to try em out. It's more for ambiance than anything and we won't have them on for more than a couple hr's a night if that. For some reason some engineer or designer thought it would be a great idea to put a White outdoor light right next to the door, I really don't want bugs in my camper every time someone goes in or out the door at night.

I really don't get the big fuss over these lights. People have been hanging christmas ligths from there campers for ever. What's the big difference between that and some leds mounted underneath that use very little battery and don't have to be put up and taken down each time?

LED's have a different wavelength and it's my understanding that they are not supposed to attract the bugs like regular lights.

Most insects are actually attracted to the ultraviolet rays (light with a wavelength of between 400 and 320 nanometers) emitted by conventional light sources. Conveniently, LEDs for standard residential applications just happen to emit almost no light in this range.

Nice job on the lights!
