We noticed a crack running along the wall of our shower just below the spigots and runs to curve on back wall. Is there a practical way to repair this or must the shower walls be replaced ? This is in a 2013, Lance 1172.

Check the basement area under the shower. My 2014 1181 had shims under the shower pan that had fallen out. I caught that defect before it became a bigger problem.

Is it fiberglass or some sort of acrylic?

In my experience NOTHING sticks to acrylic. Had a cracked shower pan in my TC. Tried epoxy, no dice. Fiberglass and resin, fuggeddaboutit. No amount of roughing and cleaning would make it stick. Like eggs off a teflon pan.

If fiberglass, you've got it made.

do you need it pretty? or just functional. I had one appear in my suround and I found the almond Geocell calking did a fine job of sealing it up and holding it togeather.

I had a crack in the base of my last camper and this is what I did:

I drilled a hole at the end/ apex of the crack in hopes any forces would disperse around that hole and not continue further.
I filled the crack/ drilled holes as best I could with flexible caulk and applied an appropriate size piece of trimmed- to- fit EternaBond over it.

The one in my Class C did the same thing, i fixed it with epoxy, I'm not a pro, and it doesn't look like a pro did it, since DW and I are the only ones that have to look at, it really doesn't matter all that much, but it worked.

Depends on the size/length of the crack. Sounds like it may be minor. If so, after removing the tap set, I would drill a small hole-maybe one eighth inch-at the end of the crack so that it won't run anymore; "vee" out along the crack with a Dremel or v-file; fill the crack with epoxy; sand smooth with 220 grit or finer after epoxy sets.

Replacing the shower surround could be a big job involving more than just the surround.......damage to walls, new taps, modify water lines, etc.

In my mind, and without seeing it, I would go with the repair unless you have the aptitude/ability to replace it yourself.

Good side is that it won't leak, bad side might be that the colours may not match.........

Hope this helps...........

I had the same thing happen in another camper. Took it to a good fiberglass repair place and it looked as good as new!

It is possible to weld the crack.
