IMO, most of the people that dump stuff like that are too poor to be able to afford to dispose of it properly. Doesn't make it right....

AGREED!

Locally if I have a couple cans of stuff to dispose of, it is $20 after I drive 12 miles to the recycling center. That is because they have a minimum amount. Sure, they give the spin that 'you can dump a whole pickup load for that price'. This is why people dump a can or two here & there in the woods.

As for recycling... I had a couple hundred pounds of scrap metal to get rid of, around $20 worth. Brake rotors & stuff I had accumulated over the years. They wanted a copy of my driver's license AND my biometric information (fingerprints). I am very concerned about my privacy and my personal information. The individual at the recycling yard clearly had English as a 2nd language and explained to me that they would be the only ones accessing my personal information. Yeah, no thanks, I'll pass on the recycling.

I believe in BC truck campers aren't required to have a license or registration, so no way to track vin to owner.....

If the politicians want to really 'solve' the problem of illegal dumping, find a way to subsidize the COST to the consumer. IMO, most people are good honest folks that will do the right thing if provided the means to do so....Dennis

I've got a better idea. I'm sick and tired of being forced to pay taxes for programs I don't believe in...how about YOU pay that guy's COST to dispose of his POS camper and leave the rest of us out of it. You seem like a good, honest person who wants to do the right thing. I'll pass on government subsidies, thank you very much.

I live out in the boonies and people dump their trash all the time. We usually go through it and find their mail and re deliver their trash on their front lawn 😉

This is the right approach. Once, my brother was stopped at a stoplight behind a Cadillac. The Caddy owner dropped a bag of McDonald's garbage out his window as the light turned green. My brother stopped and picked up the trash and followed the guy home. Imagine the guy's surprise, when he answered a knock on the door, and my brother handed him his trash, saying, "Here, I think you dropped this." As my brother tells the story, the guy was so flustered, he said, "Oh, thank you."

All the guy needed to do was post a free add on craigslist and it would have been picked up in hours! The mcdonalds trash looks like it was planted by the news station.

Maybe a couple bucks. You get squat for it because its painted, however, the recycler will make a tidy profit.

Without getting too much into politics (I heavily redacted my thoughts on this one), I discourage socializing everything which includes trash collection. People need to have their feet put to the fire and take responsibility for their actions. If you cannot afford to maintain or dispose of something, you should have thought twice about acquiring it in the first place. Why would you burden others with your trash by illegally dumping or having a program created to subsidize your poor choices?
