Fantastic fan quit

My 2 year old Fantastic Fan stopped working. Checked fuse- OK, but replaced anyway. No luck. My unit doesn't have a remote and the thermostat is a dial on the fan unit. Any suggestions...is there something simple that I'm missing? Thanks.

after looking at the picture, I see the thermal kicker outer. Like someone else said. Just jumper that for a moment and see if it goes. They get hot and blow. They are identified by a # printed on the side in temp may be either farenheight or celius. Most electronic stores will have them.Sadly Radio Shack is no longer available but I got them there.

Iโ€™ve read several places that todayโ€™s Fantastic Fan is nowhere near the quality of the original that made them famous. Kind of a bummer because I wanted to buy one.

When the fan in my Outfitter quit, it was the safety switch that shuts off the fan when you close the roof hatch. Basically, what AnEv942
says.
It was only 2 or 3 years old at the time.
The quick and dirty solution for me was to bypass the safety switch.

Edit: I think, the switch in question is in the picture on the lower left. Our fan had no automatic controls, so bypassing the switch wasn't a risk. When I close the hatch, I am next to the fan and can turn it off, there was no risk of it running inadvertently when no one is present. This may be different for the OP's version of the Fantastic Fan.

If the motor got noisy before it quit, it's motor and they aren't rebuildable. The case is welded shut. New motor time...

Yes the lid plunger switch is common source, doesnt make contact internally or stuck. You can access with lid fully open from the roof to depress a few times see if fan comes on. I put a bypass switch on mine.
Work the in/off/out switch a couple of times if it has a directional switch, might be dirty...
Other than that need to drop fan assembly.
There is a thermal fuse inside on the 3 speed switch, not common but they can fail.

The green tipped bullet. Should be power both sides of it

I had my speed dial go out. Check to make sure you have 12v at the fuse. If you do, then most likely it is either the speed dial or switch that makes sure the lid is open. Pull it apart and check that you have 12v on both side of the switch that activates with the lid opens and closes. Then check that you have 12v on one side of the speed dial. Then turn it to full speed and you should have 12V on the other side of the speed dial.

Probably in the electrics. Had a fuse holder go bad on one. You will have to work it down with a multi meter. Ron

Search for the guy who lost his remote and they wanted over $260 for a new remote system. Fantastic Fan has sold twice since they had great customer service.

Check the lid switch.
Having 16 years old unit, when it start making noise and then quit, I bought new motor.
Only during the replacement I found that the switch nut going from the roof side was loose making bad connection.
So I still keep the old motor as very likely there is nothing wrong with it.
