Ford F250 Gas with Northern Lite 8-11

There seemed to be some frustration in getting an answer on another thread about how the 2017 F250 gas hauls a camper weighing about 2,600 pounds. I can tell you that we've been hauling our new NL all over the Yellowstone region for the past two months, and the truck handles it very well, plenty of power up the steep grades of the mountains. We don't do a lot of highway driving, but when we have, it was fine. Since the truck only has 3,000 miles, we're still expecting some improvement in gas mileage since it's averaging about 11 with the camper. Our Chevy 2500HD averaged about 12.8. We have airbags, but are also adding the Hellwig Big Wig sway bar since we get some uncomfortable sway when going over uneven payment, such as into our driveway. But we don't get any sway otherwise. Overall, I'm happy with the F250 gas.

We recently did a Vancouver to Calgary run in our 2017 Super Duty gasser with a Norther Lite 9.6. Our gross weight was about 11,800 pounds, and we kept up with traffic (mostly in the 60 to 75 mph range, up to 80 on the Coq.). Some good mountain passes, the Coquihalla, Rogers Pass in the Rockies, Kootenay Pass, etc, and averaged 10.2 US mpg for the trip. Unloaded, same trip we were getting 15 US mpg.

please tell me which 3/4 ton Ford gasser sold in the last 10 years would haul a 2000lb. camper and average 12mpg or better. I've had Ford diesels until now but am considering switching to gas in an effort to avoid diesel operating costs.

I said my average was 40mph. In our town the speed limit is mostly 30mph. We don't have what you would call highways, only two lane roads where the speed limit is 65-70mph but having hit a couple of prong horn and deer, I'll keep it just under 65 with the camper on. And since I've spent about 30 of the last 60 days in Yellowstone where the highest speed limit is 45, and there are bear and bison jams all over, it's pretty hard to get the average up. But I'm happy to slow down and enjoy some of the most spectacular scenery in the country. And it's off to the Big Horn Mountains next week.

Well, it those short times when I was averaging 40 mph, my computer was showing me 18 mpg, but I never drove at those speeds to confirm that at the fill up.
Not too many will consider 40 mph normal driving speed thought.
But it is nice pot stirring

11 averaging 40 at high elevation is perfectly understandable.

If I had ever thought that I would only get 8-9 mpg, I wouldn't have gotten rid of the Chevy. Our driving is between 5,000 and 9,000 feet in elevation, if that makes a difference. The camper is on the truck full time and I average 40mph, driving between 25 an 63mph. I don't mean to contradict anyone, but the truck's computer calculates the mpg and my wife also has figured it out from fill-up to fill-up.

I have a gasser 2011 Ford F250 with a Lance 825 and we average 11 and a quarter MPG.

Mpg numbers aren't comparable without mentioning the speed and terrain/elevation covered.

I have a 2013 Chevy 2500HD Ext Cab, 4x4 diesel short box with a 2016 Northern Lite 8-11 Q Classic Special Edition. Truck suspension mods- Roadmaster Active Suspension....just installed Sumo "joist bumpers" and ordered Rancho shocks. On a trip from Albany NY to Montana and back...5600 miles...averaged 13 mpg.

Your report contradicts the other reports saying 8-9 mpg.
The "old as the World" diesel v/s gaser topics are always going the same way, so often I wonder if they are not started by forum sponsors to moderate them towards the hidden agendas.
