Ford Hitch

Hello everyone, I just recently purchased a 2008 Ford F350 Crew Cab Dually Diesel and was wandering why the truck has a 2.5 inch hitch on it. I am pretty sure that Chevy and Dodge do not do this. Now I have to by a sleeve adapter for the hitch so that I can use it. Is there some reason why Ford is doing this.

The adapter is probably less than $10. If not you could likely get a scrap piece of tubing and drill 2 holes in it for free...... But the 5/8" drill bit will cost you more than the adapter.
Not sure why anyone would complain as the 2-1/2" hitches are better capacity.

Mine came with the adaptor. I would say yours did to and the previous owner kept it.

Dodge does it starting with the 2500 series. Pretty sure GM does too. No point in having a heavy duty truck with a receiver that can't handle heavy tongue weights.
