DETROIT (Reuters) -- Ford Motor Co. is recalling almost 4,000 commercial versions of its F-Series full-sized pickup, mostly in the United States, because they could slip into reverse and increase the risk of a crash, according to documents filed with U.S. safety regulators.

Ford is recalling 3,976 F-250, F-350, F-450 and F-550 Super Duty trucks from the 2015 model year that are equipped with 6.2-liter gasoline or 6.7-liter diesel engines, and 6R140 transmissions because a transmission control software error could cause the vehicle to engage reverse for 1 1/2 seconds when the driver believes he or she is shifting from park to drive, according to the company and documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Of those, 3,973 were sold in the United States, according to the NHTSA documents.

A Ford spokeswoman said no accidents or injuries have been reported in relation to the issue, which according to NHTSA documents was discovered on March 26 at the company's Kentucky truck assembly plant.

Ford will notify owners and dealers will update the software free of charge, according to NHTSA documents. The recall is expected to begin in early May, according to NHTSA documents.

I have nothing to tell. I feel so empty. :B

Maybe you shouldn't feel too empty 22 Service Bulletins
But if your F-250 is not a SD then you only have ONE TSB
Non SD F-250

A TSB is not near as bad as a Recall though.

Yes, but I think Ford has a dress code that might preclude the above GM mechanic from helping with the fix.

Nice of- him? her?- to offer, though! :B

I guess GM just couldn't stand on their heels and not have a transmission recall. So not to be outdone by Ford they issued their own recall.

I heard bad tie rod's can vibrate though the steering to mess up the ignition switch but after they break the switch works better. Just sayin
