Because of yesterday's thread (now closed), we weighed the truck finally. We were trying to give Mr70ss some real numbers regarding the 910FBS.

We have a 2012 Dodge DRW 4x4 diesel
It's gvwr is 12300 front axle 5500 rear axle 9350

Wt of truck+full gas tank+dog and 2 people 8570

Truck+ TC 12400 that doesn't include water and full food stores. I would add about 450 lbs. Everything else was in, including clothes. That would put the TC at 4280

With TC front axle 4980
Rear axle 7380


So, as you see even with a dually, we're over gvwr but not over our axle ratings.

The TC is lighter than I have been thinking! The tag on the inner cabinet door was was off by 260 lbs for a dry weight.

It's good to know where you stand even if you are over.

Just for the record, I'm under but just under. On my longish trip to Yellowstone I weighed on the way back with full tanks all around with all of our stuff only two of us with my Brittany.

Steer Axle - 5720 Drive Axle - 8680 Gross Weight - 14400 This is for a truck that is 14500 GVWR. My SRW had a 11400 GVWR, but also weighed 1400 lbs less even with my 19.5s on it. Yes, I was about 1000 over with the SRW much of the time.

However, let's not pretend the 11 1/2 ft campers carrying everything including towing and back seats loaded are under on all DRWs. I'm sure they are even more over than many SRWs with smaller campers and who watch what they carry. The truth is the new SRWs can carry a giant load and are within a few hundred lbs of the lower capacity DRWs because they weigh more!

Always glad to see a true weight for a camper and see someone taking the time to weigh.

For reference, the 2015 SRW Ram 3500 Diesel has a GVWR of 12,300 pounds while the gasser weighs almost 1,000 pounds lighter and has a GVWR of 11,300 pound. They were able to achieve the higher GVWR mainly due to going to 18" tires increasing the rear axlecapacity to 7,280 pounds.

As twodownzero mentions though, with a DRW you aren't approaching the tire limits nearly as quickly not to mention the wider tire stance.

There is a difference between being a few pounds overweight and the level of overweight many SRW guys are.

I'm something like ~700 pounds over GVWR when loaded heavy and while not ideal, I'm okay with that, but I wouldn't push it any more than that.

Also, with a DRW you're nowhere near your tire ratings with E rated tires which is a good thing.

700 pounds over is 7% for me. A 3/4 ton would be 20% overloaded with the same camper on board.
