GM 6.2L Gas Engine for pulling?

Starting to look at a new truck for 2019. I have been pulling with a Duramax, but now looking to maybe go with a gas engine next time around. The reason is based low pulling mileage and trailer weight.

It looks like the 6.2 is going to be GM's only gas offering, so I am wondering who has pulled with this engine and what is your opinions of it.

I've had 2 different 6.2s. A 2013 and a 15. They were excellent towing motors. The 15' required 91 octane fuel (I know it says recommended in the owners manual) which I didn't mind. I also loved the 8-speed trans that came with it. It also was only available in the LTZ. Also I'd love to have you post the link of any article that says it's going to be in a 19' 2500 because I sure can't find it! lol

For HD use (towing) I would much prefer the iron block, non-DI 6.0.

No, I am just wondering what those who have pulled with the 6.2L think about it.

I thought the 2019 GM twins 2500 series will remain with the 6.0 until the 2020 year whereas they will make the new version of the 2500. Regardless I have not used the 6.2 but have used the 6.0 series. GM LS engines are one of the best out there. Generally no issues, long lasting and proven design. I have not seen any issues with the 6.2 or 6.0. Common complaints are slow to reacting pedal due to TQ management in which u can get the truck programmed and it really wakes it up.......if in the future if they use an 6.2 version for the HD, that no doubt will be my next truck. Gas jobs are so easy to take care of and to deal with. It's just cheaper to own, easy to maintain and reliable, that's my experience and yes I have pulled with both diesel and gas. If you do have info from a reliable source on the 2500 getting the 6.2 please share it! I have heard the rumor for years but it's been a no go since the engine is aluminum. They should build it just like the 6.0 and use direct injection, it would be quite the tow monster....thanks
A truck, a camper, a few toys, but most importantly a wonderful family.

I am talking about a 2019 silverado 2500. All reports I have read are indicating it will have a 6.2L and I believe it will be an aluminum block and heads with direct injection. I suspect it will be the same engine now in the 1500.
I am also reading the turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six and the 6.2L gas engine will be hitched up to a 10 speed tranny.

IDk but it would be a wise move. The 6.0l is a good motor but GM is lagging a little behind the competition, powerwise.

You can only get the 6.2 in a half ton. I can't imagine most would be too happy going from a HD Duramax to a half ton unless you're downsizing the trailer quite a bit.

The 6.2L is a GREAT hot rod ‘car’ engine...but it is currently NOT offered by GM in any +8k GVWR Class TV. Am referring to the aluminum block...or is there an iron block coming ?

You are about to drop down in TV class...GVWR by about 1,xxx.... 2,000 lbs...or more

Check out the RGAWR between what you have now vs any of the GM full sized half ton TV’s. With a PIN of 1,410 lbs...most half ton’s will run out of RGAWR....especially if you will be loading close to the payload rating

Nothing wrong with either the Aluminum 6.2L or half ton’s...just know that you are down sizing TV...and hope your trailer is within that new TV’s ratings
