Grill Options

I currently have the black rvq that mounts to the side of the trailer which plugs into the low pressure connection on the trailer. It’s very convenient, easily setup, taken down and stowed but as of late it does not seem to be working as well. I was looking to replace it with the Camp Chef 3 big gas grill which has three burners and a grill box sits over two of them or the Campco stainless steel rvq. I like the idea of the Camp Chef extra burner and larger grill but worried about storage set up and break down (I want to stow it all in the front pass through). Anyone have the Camp Chef big gas grill 3 and if so how do you like it? How about the camco stainless rvq or any other options? I want to be able to hook it to the low pressure port on the camper as I don’t want to lug around another tank.

I am using the Weber Q100 (baby Weber). Works great for the 2 of us. Hooked to the trailer propane system so I do not buy the canisters. The more I use it the better I like it. Think I will get a Weber 200 for home.

I have the Weber Q 100 for the RV and the 200 for the house. would love to get the newer Q 320 for the house.

I've had two Camp Chef stoves. The first had high-power stainless steel burners with tiny holes on the side. It worked wonderfully but after a few years one of the burners went bad. The burner was not replaceable. My current one I've had for 2 or 3 years now and would definitely recommend. It is the 2 burner (aluminum I think), with holes that point straight up, with the legs that wrap up underneath. I use it with legs occasionally, but more often on table top. The build quality seems to be excellent and the stove top space for large pans is wonderful.

My Bullet came with the Aussie BBQ Grill, which is very well made and worked excellent when I cooked burgers and dogs. I had no issues cooking on the grill attached to the back bumper. It took about a half hour to put the grill together, but now all I have to do is get it out of the pass through storage area, pull it out of the storage bag (which was provided), stick it on the swing out support, and then quick connect to the gas line port. Looking on this webpage, the grill and mount look to cost almost $400 combined, so it was a great feature that came with the TT.

I have the Coleman Roadtrip (I think the LXX version) and I'm less pleased with it than I expected. The scissor stand is fantastic, and I like that I can swap in a grate to use one or both burners as a stove. Set-up and tear-dow/storage is quick and easy.

Where it falls down for me is in the low lid and the fact that I cannot get it to get below about 320º F. It also get dirty inside very easily, causing constant flare-ups.

The previous grill was a ~$40 table-top rig from Wal*Mart; we got years out of that thing and I think I may go back to it. Really.

My dad has two Weber Qs. They seem okay, but if I ever went that route I'd be sure to get the largest model.

I have a road trip as well. I like the stand ans swapping grates griddle etc.
Cover your grates with foil and it you will have fewer flair ups and less clean up.

I'm reading this thread with huge interest. I'm currently looking to buy a small gas grill of some sort, but I'm undecided which one. Looks like a lot of Weber fans out there.

What's the height of the smaller (120) Weber? Anyone know? Same question for the Camp Chef. I'd PREFER the thing fit underneath the camper if possible.

Bought a Weber Q120, now wondering if it will be big enough for the four of us? Should I return and get the Q220?

For all you charcoal lovers who may be reading, I just bought the Weber Jumbo Joe from Walmart. Great construction as well. Gas is good, but my low pressure bumper connected grill that came with my TT could barley cook hot dogs, plus I like cooking over coal....

I used the RVQ once, threw it away and bought the Weber Q with the adapter hose. No looking back.

A BIG vote for CAMP CHEF here!!! I chose the PRO 90 three burner. It has a shelf on both sides and the legs fold under without having to remove them. The down side with this model is that you have to buy the grill box separately and it's more expensive. For me, it was worth it. I highly recommend buying the steel griddle that covers two burners as well - I can fry up a whole package of bacon as well as some sausage along the top all at the same time, and then follow up with about 10 or more big pancakes all at the same time for the whole family to eat breakfast. The grill box makes use of the drippings to "smoke" the meat as it cooks. I can grill chicken and have a huge pot of corn on the cob boiling beside it. It's the most versatile, biggest capacity, easiest to set-up cooking option for camping, period. I discovered it by walking campgrounds looking at how people cook, and then this guy set one up right behind our TT in Myrtle Beach one year and showed me all about it.

I opted to not use the quick connect on the TT. Instead, I carry a separate tank and set up the whole "kitchen", including a folding table for preparation and serving, under an EZ Up square canopy. That way I can do the whole cooking thing dry in the rain or cool in the sunshine.

Now one more thing - If you do use this option, definitely get the optional covers for each component. They make it easy to carry and store, plus it keeps the any remaining cooking mess from getting on you or your other things during transport. I found Amazon to be the best place to get everything from.

Many people use the weber q off a low pressure quick connect by removing the regulator from the grill. Search here and u will find many posts including pictures. Very common

One thing I am not entirely clear on, and was mentioned a post or two before this one... As long as I do not have a regulator on my LPG supply line or on-board the camp stove, I can plug right into the quick disconnect on the TT and be good to go... correct?

Camp Chef (and others) make a hose setup especially for this application. You remove the hose with the regulator from the stove and put this one in it's place. It's got the 1/2" (?) connection on one end to connect to the stove and the male quick-disconnect fitting on the other end to plug into the TT LPG supply.

Correct me if I'm missing something about this setup.

That is corect from what i have read.

Just know you can't attach a regular grill to the quick connect that comes with most TT's. The RVQ type work off the low pressure gas line. Most grills use a higher pressure gas supply.

I have the Canadian version of the Cuisinart ccg200. I am extremely impressed with it. Great heat adjustment, temp gauge, large rectangular grate, extremely easy to clean and best of all got it on sale at Canadian Tire for 99.99. I researched grills for 2 weeks before I bought. Leaving Weber out because of their price point I passed on Coleman because I didn't like the grill surface. Looked more like the surface of a frying pan. I like the traditional wire grate.
