GVWR Question

The truck in my signature has a GVWR rating of 7,700 pounds. The combined axle weight at my last weigh in was 8,100 pounds. Problem? (Trailer weight was 6,340. Combined was 14,440.)

Yep you might check the axle ratings, you are likely exceeding one or both ratings. Newer F150 run a GVWR that is 95% or better of the total GAWR.

I run over my GVWR, but still well within GAWR and tire weight ratings. In addition I do it on full floating axles, much stronger design than the semi floating axle in your F150.

Engineers don't have a clue what your vehicle is capable of when they assign those Gross Vehicle Weight Ratings. They should change them to Gross Vehicle Weight Guesses. Most owners and lots of contributors on here know more than they ever will. The ecoboost will pull even more.

In case anyone doesn't get it, I am being sarcastic. I have never had a tow vehicle that was comfortable when exceeding its manufacturer's ratings. Yes, I have done it and got by with it, just as others might.

It would be a problem if it were me, only you can decide what you will believe. Either you believe the truck maker or all of the folks that will say "no problem".

Ah WTH is 400 lbs between friends. It happens all the time. Some push it to 800 lbs, others 1200 lbs. Ratings is just a word, nothing more apparently. Kind of like your virus protection on the puter which says not to open a internet site. People do it all the time for some reason. We humans can't help ourselves in going over the line :B
Having said that, your tire ratings should never be exceeded ever. You might very well have "P" rated tires which will have lower sidewall ratings.

I did have extra stuff in the bed that more than likely brought the weight up. Just wanted to make sure I was reading the numbers right...

You're 400 lbs overweight, you tell me if that's a problem....if it was me I wouldn't worry about it just keep the trailer brakes turned up and drive accordingly.
