Help...6.7 CTD smoking (update: Cracked injector)

Took the truck out for the 4th of July on a long haul and now my truck is blowing white smoke during acceleration. I'm completely stock and don't abuse my truck. All fluids and gauges look good. What could cause this?

X2, if the injector is stuck open it could torch the piston.

FWIW I have never seen my truck smoke during a regen..

X2 on not driving. If it's the EGR cooler, it can cause more damage. If its the DPF if means its trying to burn off excess fuel, which could end up fouling it or plugging it with ash. A 2014 won't ever smoke during regen. Actually none of the 6.7's do, unlike the Ford 6.4L.

I wouldn't worry too much. Get it to the dealer and let them handle it. I am sure it isn't anything you could have done, even if you pegged it on the redline.

I think you're right. I'll try to get it there soon. Will I damage it if I keep driving it until then?

I wouldn't advise it, get it looked at asap.

I'm going to say you are just going through a heavy regen. My 13 did it too. If you drive around like you have an egg under the pedal the exhaust builds up.

The more I load down my truck the better it runs. The most common turbo failures that I've seen is the variable veins start sticking, but you'd notice that with a loss of power, and that "usually" starts acting up around 70k miles. My first thought was maybe a blown head gasket but you said all the fluid levels are normal. Have you pulled the dip stick as well? Oil color and smell normal? Is it making oil?

31K, mostly highway. Do you think I damaged it pulling the fifth wheel? I traveled 400 miles round trip at 60-65 mph. Everything seemed fine and I don't remember any issues. I've never redlined it or had any issues until now.

I'll have to check in the morning. I've just noticed it while driving around recently.

On other forums I'm also reading that it could be the turbo or seal around it.
